I am 55 years old and I wore the 8 Track of Blackfoot Strikes out in the early 80's Blackfoot is truly one of the most underrated hard rock bands of all time and Rickey is a living legend.

I'm 56, saw Blackfoot when i was 15 at the 2nd Monsters of Rock, i had never heard them before, but the next day I bought Maurauder, then Strikes the week later, Rickey is my idea of a musical soul, real music, unbelievable voice, and f**king killer guitarist, if you can have a groundhog day that would be mine.

In October of 2016, I went to a particularly great Skynyrd show in CT. Before the show, I was talking to Rick and he asked if I was going to this show. I told him I didn't know anything about it! A month later, I was at BB King's with my youngest son who was born in 88. He only knew Rickey as a member of Skynyrd, no matter how much I told him and played the music! I was extremely excited to see and hear Rickey singing and playing the old Blackfoot songs again, but I wasn't sure what to expect. Anyway, Rickey came on about half way through the show, and it was amazing! I was 18 again and he was playing and singing up a storm!!! The surprise of the night was how he played with Tim Rossi, they were great! His highlight, included here, is Rickey singing the beginning of Simple Man and moving seamlessly into Highway Song. Now THAT I'd never seen before! Good Mornin',, Train Train and all the Medlocke stories, it was such an unexpected thrill, and my son absolutely loved it! After the show, Rickey was telling us stories like only he can for about 45 minutes until his ride got there. So much fun and this recording along with another that's kicking around brings it all back. I don't know if I'll ever see him play those amazing songs again, but I didn't expect that one either. It's a great video and if you like Blackfoot, you'll love this! That Rossi version of the band was fantastic!

I feel fortunate to have seem him back in the late 80's at a local bar called the peppermint beach club, saw a lot of other great shows there also but that one is one I'll never forget. Great guitar work and the vocals go with the style of music perfectly.

I remember seeing Blackfoot back in the mid-1970s at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. Ruby Starr was singing for them at that time. A local band from Mason City, Iowa named Corn Fed opened for them. They had a good reputation in the local area. I had heard of Corn Fed but had never heard them until this concert. They weren't too bad. Then when Blackfoot came on stage and hit the first note they just blew Corn Fed off the stage. I remember that very well. Holy crap!

Rickey Medlocke is a stud. So not only have I seen him sing and play guitar for two of southern rock's best in Lynyrd Skynyrd and Blackfoot, never got to see him play drums for LS back in the early days, but have also seen him lead another legendary southern rock band Molly Hatchet. Was going to see Blackfoot open for Molly Hatchet in Kansas City, believe it was 1983 or 84. However 3 or 4 of MH's band left town...! So member's of Blackfoot and MH opened with a set of MH tunes then Blackfoot headlined. I can remember my younger sister saying "that lead singer (RM) needs to loosen up". I just chuckled and said "just wait"! Wasn't my first time seeing them.🙂
