Thanks for the history lesson. Just bought the P4K and will pick up in Singapore soon as one of the two founders of Black Magic, Peter Barber, picked one up for me and another mate who’s working with me on a new project in Bali - we plan to keep them both busy very soon. Interesting Pete didn’t get a nod in your early history segment of the video. I remember being in VHQ with him and Grant as they were explaining their idea for an analog to digital converter that would allow graphics artists to see what they were working on directly from a reference monitor rather than just their computer screens which was a game changer for them. Amazing where this all started and how far it’s come!

I really miss my Blackmagic Pocket OG, but, I don't miss the problems I had with it. I went through literally 4 of them and had problems with HDMI port and the record button failed on one of them. Also, had one that constantly skipped frames. I do love Blackmagic, though, and maybe someday I'll have one again. But, I've between pretty happy with my Panasonics for now though.

Adam Stevermer If you want really cheap, you can find the original Pocket Cinema cameras for under 500 bucks with plenty of batteries and a lens if you’re lucky. I guess you can either really kit out an original BMPCC or get the 4K if you already have the rest.

7:53 The Micro Cinema Camera does NOT have a global shutter. They announced a version but never released one. The 4K Cinema Camera was the only one to my knowledge. Really sad they aren't rolling with the global shutter on the newest models. REALLY wish they'd make a FF or at least 1.6x crop so you aren't basically required to get a speedbooster

Used mainly Panasonic cams my whole life - talking about Professional camcorder line no consumer stuff being an ENG cameraman - and was pretty happy with them. Price/Value was always good. Then Panasonic started the P2 Card series (Sony with that weird disc thingy) which was annoying and finally they jumped on the train of releasing consumer photo/video cams pretending they would match a professional camcorder and or cinema camera which they don't .... not even close ..... not even in the next galaxy. However, those cams were good enough for b-roll or KZbin ect and I thought, ok, give a try and bought the GH4 + the "professional" audio-interface because I don't do payed work with shitty cam-mics! Well ... that experience turned out to be my worst gear nightmare of all time. I never became so frustrated with a camera like with the GH4. The whole advertisement was beyond misleading and in the end the camera was no good anyway for what I do. Tried out a couple of other cams from Sony and Canon and they all sucked! I'm not talking about minor things I'm talking about serious heat and battery issues with Sony and or unbearable sound issues with Canon ..... and Panasonic AND once gearing out those consumer cams to sort of professional work horses they became some fragile Behemoth with cables hanging all over the place, some monitor somewhere and some more stuff some place else. Then Black Magic came along. And I still say that the Black Magic Ursa Mini Pro is still the best camera on the market when it comes to Price/Value/Handling!
