dnt know if its the LUT, but first time am seeing so much green cast into p6k compared to Sony in camera B lol. But either one get the job done. so If you had the money: Ergonomics definitely goes for fx6, that e-nd/shape factor makes it a winner. but the fx6 is nearly 3 time the price of a p6k pro lol.

For me it was the clouds not being blown out like on Camera B. I’m guessing the slight color shift from the internal NDs of the 6k pro give off that slightly yellow green look which isn’t that noticeable if you aren’t looking for it.

Footage from either camera, used to shoot a film, and then color corrected and graded......no one can tell what camera it was shot on, nor that it looks like anything other than awesome. People don't watch movies shot on two different cameras side by side. A film could be released shot on either camera, and the quality of the footage would be detrimental to its success because both cameras are excellent.

Great video to show some images side by side, thank you for that! I work with a BMCC6K and 4K, and I love them both. In the back of my mind I think about if the FX6 is a better choice, and I think I would be super happy with that choice... but... the price difference isnt worth it for a lot of people who are shooting video. We use the first gen BMCC6K and its $1800, $2500 for the pro, and now its less and we have a full frame BMCC6K you can buy for the $2500 amount. It's hard to compete with the price and what you get. Still love the FX6, never used one before and would love to one day, but for now, I'll stick with my BM's and upgrade my other gear around it until its time to upgrade!

Go with the camera that will make you the most money. I think the whole Netflix approved thing is a bit of a red herring, as the Arri Alexa (the most widely used camera in cinema and episodic TV) isn't netflix approved. And that is a farce really. Fx6 is a much more usable camera for day to day production, and yes while it is more, you can charge more for your day rate as well.

BlackMagic is colder you can really see this in the side by side at 7:50. I personally like the fx6 image better but they are very close and both quite good. I could certainly use either just fine! I think nowdays you are looking more at features, handling, and lens mount? Do you have investment in lenses already? Canon EF mount or Sony E mount? Do you want variable ND, full frame, amazing autofocus, full size XLR, SDI and 4K 120 along with the newer Sony Emount system with its advantages over the older EF mount? Or would you like ability to shoot raw in camera, up to 6k, a nicer monitor (and better menu system) and the older EF mount which although built for DSLR cameras, has a entrenched large system of lenses which are readily available most places?
@QuarzenZechenSoehne

You don't know the WB for both cameras. Both Cameras use Log/ Raw so you can make the camera look as blue/yellow/magenta/green as you want, in post. YOu can also manipulate the color Matrix in sony. You should also be able to do that on the BM since you can CC though the ATEM software, maybe I am wrong though.
@907DP
@907DP Жыл бұрын
@@QuarzenZechenSoehne I don’t know the WB for both camera in that particular shot but I have used them both and BM tends to be a bit more cold than the new Sony color science on the FX6. I think Sony is now closer to Canon’s ‘magenta biased’ color science which tends to look good on skin tones (and some other things as well) but may not be as technically accurate. But just my opinion. I’m an FX6 owner…as a ‘one man band’ it suits me better than the pocket 6k pro but I will say the pocket 6k pro might be the best value for money camera out there. @@KHR0M3K0R4N Clinical looks can be edited. There's no reason to buy a cinema camera to use it as is. It's all up to the skills and vision of the editor. I do prefer the Sony image and its handling looks great too (love it how you can shoot against your body). Also e-mount lenses are plentiful and more modern. However I’m a BM user, and I like its small and relatively discreet size, and you can also flip out the screen and use it as another point of contact against your stomach or chest. Does wonders to handheld operation. But lenses are an issue for BM, they aren’t making new EF lenses anymore. Still okay for now but it’s a dead end. Overall though it’s not about the camera. Not even about the operator. It’s about what you shoot. Generally BM, with all its limitations, allows me to shoot a great variety pf stuff, small body with a great monitor, discreet, easy to travel with, you can take risks with it as it’s cheaper (film near salt water for instance) etc etc
@films_by_aw
@films_by_aw Жыл бұрын
I go through phases where I use the flip out monitor as an extra point of contact, but it's not ideal, as I always felt if I held it too closely then it could be damaged. And as that is the main input point of the entire camera I don't want to risk it. But it just depends on the situation. But I agree about the lens options and their limitations. But my clients don't seem to care and I've never had anyone comment that the footage is anything other than great, but I want to experiment more with different types of optics (pl mount). My favourite lenses are Zeiss superspeeds mk 2's and my ideal situation would be to use them with this camera (I've gone the Contax Zeiss route and it's too much of a minefield). But at the end of the day you can't go wrong with any of these cameras

@@films_by_aw I’ve used the flip out screen this way since I bought the 6k pro a couple of years ago (when it was released) and it hasn’t let me down yet. Everything works fine. It’s more robust than it looks! That’s probably my favourite handling aspect of that camera (and handling is my number 1 priority for camera choice), I do find the normal mirrorless flip out screens a very average solution for video. Too small, get in the way of cables, easy to damage. The only advantage is that on-camera mic doesn’t block the screen. But yeah I agree, can’t go wrong with either

While autofocus on cameras like the fx6 and A7siii are great, it still isn't right for every situation. The cameras are deciding what they think should be in focus, which when you are shooting interviews, it's great. But I still find myself turning off autofocus to choose what I want in focus for artistic reasons. So there will always be a place for manual focus lenses. And I don't always want to be limited to Sony/Sigma/Tamron lenses because they are the only ones with autofocus

I am starting to despise cameras with dual base ISO's because what is really happening is we are getting more ISO's that are unusable due to noise! For example, in the Pocket 6K Pro, the ISO is not usable between 400 and 1000 and above 2000 depending on your taste. I find it far more difficult to use a camera like this than say an URSA 12K which has usable ISO's between 125 to 1250. It's just more logical to have consecutive usable ISO's starting from 100 going up with no gaps in between.
@thejoe4975
@thejoe4975 11 ай бұрын
I don't know if this is the case on the 12k, but I know on the pocket cameras the allocation of dynamic range changes based on where you are within the current iso bracket. For instance, if you're shooting in a high-key environment it may look more pleasing to shoot at iso 640-1000 because the camera will allocate more dynamic range to the highlights giving a more pleasing roll-off. Since you're shooting for a high-key look you probably wouldn't have to worry about deep shadow areas where noise would be noticeable. I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but that's the way the sensor is designed. I know Arri does something similar where their dynamic range allocation changes depending on the iso. I know many people think of iso as a means to offset or fine-tune exposure, but I find on the pockets and other cinema cameras that's just not how it's designed to be approached. I find the best way to approach exposure on a pocket is to set the iso based on how I want the dynamic range allocated, and then use the iris or NDs to fine-tune the final exposure. And if I'm in low light then the second iso bracket is a life-saver, even if it does come with a slight hit to the overall dynamic range.

FX6 beats the BMP6K in literally every area but not having internal RAW recording. If you can't grade 10-bit Sony 4.2.2 footage to your pleasing, then it's on the user, not the camera. Sony's recent line has their colour science down.

it seems the FX 6 have a very crazy greenish on low light, but it's hard to judge a movie from youtube. Of course if the platforms that are used are those, then I would say that the LUTs used are really bad. I think you can get better grades. This can only be said by you, who have worked on the files. In this test the 6k pro is much better

We used the phantom luts that are regarded as one of the best for Sony line, if you have a better one in mind please let me know as I'd like to check them out :)

@@stuartswindellcampoy8483 I can't tell because I've never used FX6 or even those luts, but I'd like to see how it performs using just a conversion from Slog 3 to rec709. LUTs often mislead

@@films_by_aw I found a downloadable Slog 3. What I did is I set Aces cct then I converted Slog3 gamut 3 to rec 709. The result is a slightly pink file, but correctable and very good, I did a grading and I didn't notice any tendency towards greenish. Really nice file. I think I will buy the FX 6. Thanks a lot
