Footage looks fantastic man. I've been eyeing this camera for months now. Funny that it's older than so many cameras that came out this year and it still holds up (if not beats) the competitors.

Why would you render it out before even editing? Just keep those RAW files in there and use those to edit so you can continue to make changes with the meta data

You can use it on a gimbal for sure. I’d recommend a stead I am instead. Easy rig is what I use 90% of the time if not a tripod.

Thank you for the insight into your workflow. I'm a Canon user and thinking about getting a 6k pocket cam - my main question I'm trying to figure out is currently I shoot with the atomos ninja v attached so all my videos are prores right out the gate. Is there something similar with this 6k cam or do I need to shoot in raw and then convert to prores to capture all the 6k goodness? Is it the same with 4k on the pocket cam? Hopefully this isn't terribly complex to answer - if it is I guess I'll try searching Gerald Undone's videos lol! Great job!

Spencer! Really appreciate the love! So to shoot in 6K with the entire sensor coverage, you'll need to shoot in braw. There are a few different ones to choose from but only 6K raw

@hellionfilms23492 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm confused a bit here. So you shoot in BRAW, then before you edit a meaningful timeline, you immediately render them out to a ProRes file? Then what? Import that rendered ProrRes file to use in the edit? Why don't you just shoot in Prores?
@NickBrengle2 жыл бұрын
I shoot in raw, color grade etc. in Raw then render out in a pro res format.
@hellionfilms23492 жыл бұрын
@@NickBrengle Right apologies, I thought you were importing in order to export straight to ProRes, to then re-import for the edit. So I'm assuming you're using Resolve purely for the color grade then editing in, Premiere, say?

@BoBula8084 жыл бұрын
I'm able to edit 6K BRAW footage on my 2018 13" macbook pro with 16gb of ram. Some tips: if you don't need to use FCPX or premiere, don't. Resolve is more than sufficient for most people as an NLE and is optimized to work with BRAW. For smoother playback, set your video monitoring settings to 1080 or 720p. Also, go to playback > proxy mode > half or quarter resolution. If that's still not enough, playback videos without any color grading applied when viewing outside of the color workspace. Or of course, buy/build a better computer.
