In this video I build my interpretation of Sathog the Flesh Spawn from Absolute Tabletop's Shadows Over Driftchapel "adventure kit". This was a rapid fire craft where I was on a very limited time constraint. This time constraint led to a liberating experience of rapid experimentation that led to some very cool results.

Difficult to get edges of tiles to line up while still getting the same overall texture and randomness here. Not impossible, but make sure that's figured out before none of the stringies line up at the edges.

Oooh! A flesh cave (not that one) would be the perfect scene. I needed to feed oozes for millenias and I was thinking about having chained trolls just out of reach, where the regenerating limbs would go back in reach of the oozes to feed them, but literally having a cave of ever growing flesh to feed a sea of slime is even better.

Awesome! I love that you let your creativity run wild and just "played" instead of "planned." I find that I get too in my head on my own projects a lot, and sometimes let my fear of screwing it up limit my creativity. "And I started to go crazy with it." Well, that's quite thematic. The piece turned out pretty well even without considering the time constraints. Fleshy, visceral terrain is rather rare. Makes me think if there's any good way to achieve Gieger-esque look. Also, just slap some green on it and it's going to be the most cheerful little abomination in all the land.

Another interesting speed build. You should revisit this again when you have more time. You could do a flesh, xenomorph or alien world terrain version which a lot of us would find interesting. Can you imagine doing a long, narrow corridor replicating an intestines of some giant beast? All the horrors you would encounter...

I have an entire desk full of paint, glue, toothpicks, popsicle sticks, xps foam, dollar store foam, paint brushes, glue... etc... etc... etc... In the middle of all of it, a partially done cathedral, some partially done tents, some finished dungeon tiles, and some unfinished ones. And one of these days, I am gonna really sit down and make some amazing stuff like this! You really are inspiring in a lot of ways my friend. Even if I cannot find the time right now to complete any projects (at least not without my kids ruining them) I sure love watching your vids and getting even more ideas for the future. Absolutely love this! I don't know if I'll ever make a fleshy disgusto-tile (although maybe for 40k Nurgle-terrain). However, seeing you just go for it and test new things on a piece I think is really inspiring to see! Trying to get people into this hobby (particularly the miniature painting, but also terrain creation) I've found is really hard sometimes, and one of the most common problems I see people have, is that they'll be afraid to start painting, or building, or something just because they don't want to mess up. Getting into the spirit of just jumping into a project, doing whatever you think might be cool or cause a neat effect is such an important skill to have, and I think you learn a lot better through it than spending hours on end looking things up on youtube and watching painting videos (which is pretty much where a lot of my friends are at who are interested in the hobby).

I love this. It's awesome to look at, my PC would be totally disgusted to walk through. I especially enjoyed watching the different painting stages on this one, kind of like watching the walls literally form and grow then decay. That will be great imagery for in-game use. The inks and the PUS blew my mind a little, I thought it really added that extra bit of gross. It is cool to see how you stress tested the foam with hot glue and again with the heat gun. Those parts reminded me of the acid pools with acetone episode, one of my favorites. I really like the organic-looking textures that resulted.

These techniques, or more refined ones based on these, might make for an interesting set of 3x3s to go with all your other tile sets. Maybe similar to your cave tile set but only smaller in numbers. Very organic feeling and looking. A good horror themed dream state or trapped in the belly of a massive creature. Awesome work on this

You always do great videos, Jeremy. Having said that, I think that this is the best one you have done. That piece is great. If you do something like this again use a pen and draw a little harder on the smaller runes. That should help. I've had a D&D idea for a kind of meat mold, which grows underground, creating a layer of tissue and organs over the walls of caves. Spawning fleshy monsters to defend itself, and to venture out to obtain food (before they return to the meat mold and get devoured). Suffice to say, this video has given me a few ideas about how to render the idea into a terrain piece.

I used to run a game in a homebrew system where the players had to delve into a cave system made of flesh with oozing toxins and acids all around them to defeat a monster called The Mother who's spawning thousands of Disfigured - once humans, eaten by the hive, then birth again as a horrible hive-minded creature that feels no pain. They would've loved this kind of fleshy terrain. Actually, your video just inspired me to make the set, I hope one day I'll have enough free time to do it. The narrow flesh corridors and the spherical rooms will be bloody awesome. (sorry for the pun...)

I really love this. I might try it myself one day. Not sure if the encounter has it slowly turning to flesh. But I would start with a stone piece that has the runes and then replace it with the skin piece as the encounter moved on. Maybe even make another piece of stone dungeon tiles and cut it to add to the edge of the flesh part. Easier way to show it taking over.
