I’m a black man with very kink curls. Mine are the tightest curl on the spectrum. My routine is similar and requires lengthy prep work pre shave to minimize ingrown hairs. I utilize face cleanser, exfoliant, a face steamer, shaving cream, and a face moisturizer that can be applied as many times as needed throughout the day. It took me years to figure out this crap but thank god I did. If I have a son I’ll be be able to teach his ungrateful ass all this shit.

I’m going into the Air Force next month I don’t want to get a shaving waiver, is an electric razor better to use? I just shaved with a razor found out I had pseudofolluculitus barbae on my neck area

I am seeing people saying that if you have coarse hair use clippers instead of razors and trim down instead of shaving the hair off completely. If you still want to use a razor for a cleaner look then only shave every week or 2.

@@zoekteboel get a face wash with salicylic acid and a rag, and scrub the area gently so as not to burst them while taking a hot shower. Do this every shower. This will clean and exfoliate the layers of dead skin to allow the hairs to come out. Afterwards, Dab some tea tree oil on the spots and let it dry a little, then apply a moisturizer. Do not try to squeeze or pluck the hairs out , you just have to let it take it’s course. This may take about 2-3 weeks for it to heal, but do not try to rush it.

Don’t extract fully as in pluck all the way. Release the trapped hair from the skin at the tail end. This gives the hair an exit. If you have plucked all the way the skin will likely heal over. Then you will have another ingrown that will grow and try to find an exit all over again.

Use ice on face immediately after fresh shave, & make sure clippers are disinfected with alcohol before and after using them :)
