Honestly, nobody cared that she was mean. People knew that for years. Oprah knew that. That's why could never catch the 2 in the same room. Now when covid hit. Her ratings dropped. Because we all watch movies and binged actual TV shows. And when people came back, they questioned why, and drama brings views. Then, the drama got too heavy on one side, and the fake apologies weren't stopping the loss in viewership.

Personally, I stop watching her after she had Kevin Hart on to "clear his reputation" after he got fired from Oscar hosting gig due to public out cried about Hart's old homophobic joke. Watching that interview made me think that, for Ellen, being comedian is more important than being gay. That she would rather risk her reputations by helping out a fellow comedian over, perhaps, solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. The George W. Bush incident cemented this opinion that, she didn't value the opinion of the community over her own interests. Which is within her rights to do, if not for her preaching others to do otherwise.
