yep, he was literally dying as he did this role as M. Bison (which honestly his actual dying state, made him look so good as bison), and gave it his very all (his literal last n dying performance), and all for his own kids, as they loved the street fighter game so much (I actually think this is a really good movie, especially for a fighting video game, this movie and mortal kombat movie, the original MK 1 movie --- I've not seen the 2021 movie yet, are both really good fighting video game movies, I really don't at all understand why people think this is a bad movie, it's good, yes it's campy-corny, but it's still good, and then add in dying raul as M. bison, as cream on top of the cake, laughs) (I think I really only knew of Raul through this movie and of course with the addams family movies, but I don't think I've seen any other movies with him in them)

Apparently he was doing a lot of coke and Kylie Minogue and they were skipping out on most shoots, that's why some scenes don't make sense, since they had to shoot something those days but were missing JCVD. Then some of the fights ended up being too violent for ratings (like fights with Vega's claws) and had to be cut altogether. Production on this movie was such a disaster but Raul Julia just makes it amazing.

The greatest thing about this is Raul Julia for sure. But I always give it bonus points for the casting. The actor who played T. Hawk is Gregg Rainwater, who is actually part Native American, and the dude who played Vega is Jay Tavare who is part Native American, part Spanish. The dude is 50 years old and is still shredded. Kenya Sawada did try out for Ryu, turns out, they liked him so much that made a character for him in the movie, and even kept his name. This movie is beautiful.

The story was, that Raul Julia, given a script that offered no real backstory for his character, came up with a backstory on his own to provide motivation for his acting. If memory serves, he came up with the idea that in Bison was the sun of a major South American drug lord who is raised in European military academies. That's how great an actor and what a consummate professional he was. Even when making a Bee movie for his kid, he still did everything he could to give the best performance possible

Sadly not only did Raul Julia not get any awards (that I know of for this movie) but people where upset that it was his last film. They where upset that it was a cheesy movie based of a video game and I guess would have like it to have been something else but I think they missed the point that the reason he did was that his kid was a big fan of the game and he wanted what was likely going to be his last film something for his son.

But the sequel never came since the critics panned the movie. 23:46 You're right! That's a stuntman! Funny story, Sawada was the person Capcom wanted to play Ryu since he was a big name actor in Japan. Unfortunately, they had already cast someone to be Ryu, so the writer/director compromised with Capcom by creating a new character and used the name of the actor as the character and now he is in the movie. Sadly Sawada was pretty horrible at english, so his performance wasnt a guy trying to speak english bad, he was just bad at english.
