Something I'm going to get that I've read about is a Zippo hand warmer! Just keep one in your jacket in your sleeping bag and then you should be quite nice and toasty! Especially if you have the 12h one😊 Fantastic stuff as always Mr. Thomas!! 😱 Thank you so incredibly much for sharing all this invaluable knowledge many thanks and much love and admiration from across the pond in southern Sweden 🇸🇪🙏❤

Thank you for the class. Removing the moisture our breathe puts in the air is something I had never thought about or even heard off but makes so much sense Having a candle to dry the air. Absolutely loved this class. Thank you

Blackie!!..Thanks for that info. You reminded me of the days when I use to go hunting and or camping for one or two weeks twice a year. For winter months I used a small homemade sheet metal wood burning stove in the canvas tent. For real cold winter camping I had a couple small tin cans full of small stones and sand and kept them on top of the top of the wood burning stove. They kept the tent warm for hours after the fire in the stove burned out. I also saved the mylar bags with the shiny metal like coating inside and would cut them open and tape them together to make big sheets that wood line the complete inside of the tent ( top to bottom and wall to wall ) to help reflect the heat and or hold the heat in longer. That was back in the 70's and 80's. And worked very well! Before that I had a puptent that I made a wood frame for the inside of the tent so I could pull a couple of stakes and move it over a few feet to expose a trench I had dugout and would put a bunch of rocks in it that were heated up by the camp fire during the day and a covering of sand and dirt over them to put my sleeping bag on and then move the tent back over it and stake it down which kept me warm all night. But that didn't heat the tent so getting out of the sleeping bag in the morning was ruff so that's why I went to a small wall tent and a small wood burning stove. Thanks for reminding me of those days!!...I miss them! I'm 78yrs old now and in the past ten years have had six to eight strokes and recently a heart attack so I think my camping and hunting days are over but I would like to go out at least one more time camping for a week or two like I use to! Those hunting and camping days out in the woods was why worked so hard all year for in my younger years! That was in Ohio and Arizona. Thanks again!..Oh and it looks and sounds like you have over come your past stroke pretty well!!

Hey Blackie... Awesome series Sir 🫡 ..... May I recommend those duraflame u get almost 4hrs in a hot tent stove ...u notice after 3hrs ur getting close with the temp.. Use 1 sleep a bit, toss in a 2nd good to go...there is a cheaper brand of compressed coffee grounds a company makes 6 for $25 roughly so little pricey.... They burn clean too... Not much soot ... Just recommending

Blackie, I know this is a little off subject, but I just now found a new hack for those toggle hitch ties that you told us about. I call it a 'hitch dispenser'! First I did what you suggested, I bought a bunch of toggle coat buttons off of Amazon. Then I took a ten-foot length of cordage and threaded about half a dozen toggles onto it, and then tied a bowline knot on each end. Now I can just take one of the bowline ends and wrap it around the object I want to tie down, and insert the first of the toggles into it. Then I tighten it down and cut the rest of the dispenser off, and tie another bowline onto the new end. Quick and easy. Please try it and let me know what you think.

Thanks for posting blackie! Something I learned a long time ago, from buffets, That when you eat heavily, your body sends blood to your core to aid and digestion. Buffets tend to be cold inside, for this very reason. After you eat and a lot, the blood that was keeping your hands and feet warm, goes to your core. Then you leave because you are uncomfortable, hence saving the buffet money, because you ate less, and they can put a new customer wher you sat, all because you are uncomfortably cold. So, I think your advice of a warm final meal or beverage right before bed is great, I just recommend people do not gorging themselves. Tell me if you have ever experice this, and your thoughts on it. Thanks!

Ahh Blackie, more commonsense information. I have a dual sided (20’x30’) tarp, silver on one side, green on the other). In summer I put the silver side up (reflects the summer heat) and in winter silver side down (reflects the heat of the fire into the tent). It works well and keeps us dry in all seasons. I know our winter is not as cold as yours. However, on Moreton Island in winter; the wind blows from the west and is cold and it blows across the bay to the campsite. Wind chill and we’re camping on sand. Moreton is the worlds third largest sand island and sand loses heat easily.

evening Blackie, I assume you have these over there, those winter windscreen protectors ? thin foam sandwiched between foil layers, use as a chesp lightweight highly packable extra under layer in cold weather they also have another use when you're in your camp chair the sun goes down you feel a little chilly, use the protector to lin your chair, not only will it reflect a small amount of heat it acts as a Windproof barrier for your lower back and kidneys hopefully keeping you a little warmer until you burrow down in your bag
