1988. The year when so many things went right. This was day 1 of the first game show that I was ever on...

There was a British version of this game show but it was called 'Take The Plunge' & aired on ITV for 1 series in 1989 & was hosted by comedy actress Su Pollard.

Thank you for posting all these episodes of "Blackout"-a forgotten, fun game from one of my fave creators, Jay Wolpert! Looking forward to enjoying these!

No offense to Lee, but I think "Whew!" was the ultimate Wolpert creation. Sad that Burt Sugarman is sitting on the format. I think it'd work today, provided that a taped voice read out the blooper (Tom Kennedy slipping in reading cost time to the contestants IMO. You were great, Tom; no offense to u either.)

This wasn't a bad game show, unfortunately CBS loved $25,000 Pyramid and missed it.

This would have been a great game show to play virtually now.

Did you do other game shows besides this one? THis show is remembered by the online game show community, but Pyramid fans don't like it much as it replaced $25,000 Pyramid, only to be replaced by $25,000 Pyramid 13 weeks later.

The puzzles in the main game were impossible to solve without all the words. In the first one, Mrs. Fields could have been making just about anything instead of the usual cookies. And both of these contestants were just awful. The lady couldn't give clues to save her life, and dude completely blew it in a bonus round that was a piece of cake--should have had Daphne solving them.

It was possible to solve the puzzles with three words revealed, or even just two words in some rare cases. It happened several times. The trick was to recognize the pun and fill in the missing words accordingly.
@christopherdunne78485 жыл бұрын
Some kinda bonus shoulda been added for anyone who could solve with words remaining---like $1,000 for one word still left, $10,000 for two, or heaven forbid $50,000 for three. (If that were ever pulled off, CBS would be into Michael Larson territory, and they'd freak out.)
