I'm going to be honest with you. I don't need this for when I'm out in the cold woods. I need this for my next D&D session in my parent's basement.

It's better to cut semicircular cloak though, if it's large enough ( mine is 150 cm radius, 3 meters diameter ) it works as a blanket fair enough, while being more comfortable, the sort of sides by the hood are really uncomfortable if you just tie it this way. If you make a cloak you can also make a hood separate, but make it so that you can tie it or button it to the inside of cloak and you're carrying same thing around that doesn't feel weird.

I was thinking about making a clamp broach so there are no holes from a pin. A golf ball may be too large, but a marble is too small. I'll find a pretty stone along the river. Good video, well done. Thanks for the refresher course. I needed this, thank you.
@stephanieyee9784 Жыл бұрын
I've seen this done before but its good to see other variations of the theme. I was just thinking about putting mitten pockets on the blanket so you can slip your hands in them. Just sewing a basic piece of woollen cloth at each end of the blanket. They could also be useful for storing small essentials such as flint, or even your phone. Just a thought.
@qoph198811 ай бұрын
And if you're preparing things beforehand, may as well cut and stitch a nice button hole on one side and sew a button on the other. They'd be fairly unobtrusive on the edges and stay out of your way when using it as a blanket again. Boom you've reverse-engineered the snuggie for druidic woodsmen

Great video. Button rocks are seriously underrated, underutilized and under appropriated. Thanks for putting this out there. I have a wool blanket and sleeping bag sleep system. On its first impromptu field test I figured out how to make the blanket (60”x80”) into a double breasted hooded cloak using 4 button rocks and some jute. It could be “unbuttoned” without removing any of the rocks or jute. Kept me quite warm next to the fire while my camping mates huddled closer and closer to the fire until they finally went to bed.

Thanks that was explained very well. I am going to try it but may also try getting the blanket ready at home with a couple of largish buttons and sew in a couple of button holes. I am older and get cold easily. Tying in the button stone may be hard for me to do in the cold. Consider me subscribed.🤗

Seriously! Who DISLIKES this? More importantly, WHY? It's a great "How-to", and it's presented well. It's not AMAZING, and it's not INDUSTRIOUS. NOR is it very hard to figure out on your own. I mean, COME ON! If you are stuck out in the woods with a blanket you're probably going to figure out how to use it as a cloak, especially if you know about the "button cinch". But why would ANYONE ever take the time to "thumbs-down" this video? I sincerely want to know! Because I suspect that most of them are just trolls.
