Can you start a new series about competiton math? Like AMC, math league, MAO, etc.?
@iamtackler6 жыл бұрын
Tuanicular I second this. BPRP’s teaching style really suits explanations for competition math. Having an entire series from him on it would be amazing.

you can actually just convert each number in octal to binary then convert the binary to hexadecimal example: 7513= (111)(101)(001)(011)= (1111)(0100)(1011)= F4B maybe bprp should do a video on why this works! :D

I find it easiest to convert to octal first -- dividing by 8 is easily done even mentally (an advantage over hex) and it's 3 times fewer steps than dividing repeatedly by 2. Converting from octal to binary is also easily done, replacing each octal digit with 3 binary ones.

I learned a faster method to convert base 10 numbers into binary numbers at a school overseas. Using the remainder logic, first convert the number into an octary form and utilize a remainder table to convert octary to binary. 1=001 2=010 3=011 4=100 5=101 6=110 7=111 I don't remember exactly how it's done but it was super fast for converting large numbers.

What method can be used to convert a base 2 number to a base 3 number (without having to use base 10)?

Excellent question. I will make a video on it when I have time. Prob. this coming weekend or so.
