I think their sound is getting more and more polished over time. They are also more willing to try out new styles, new instrumentation, and new flows, which I really appreciate, even if some of the new songs don't click immediately with me. When you've got through the whole album, you'll see how much the girls have improved and stepped out of their comfort zones. Lisa, who is usually known for her raps, shows beautiful and emotional vocals in this album. Her vocals blew me away because even as a hardcore fan, I didn't expect that from her. Also, with Jisoo, her English has gotten so much better. And the conviction in her voice when she says these bad bitch lyrics, before this album, I didn't buy it when she said them, but now I do. Can't wait to see what Blackpink has in store for us in the future. This is only the beginning.

BP's music this album just feel more cohesive overall. People get really defensive when the criticism is given that their music is repetitive, (mostly cause the subject matter is always "boss bitch shit) but for me that was only part of it. It felt like before, with their music, they would try to just throw any sound at the wall specifically with "mass appeal" in mind. Wow factor. They'd fill a lot of their music with repetitious mouth sounds (catchiness) and always blow up into arbitrary anthems. It would be jarring listening to 8 genres in 3 minutes. Maybe they're finally realizing they don't have to try so hard to gather the attention they deserve. They've always been talented and hardworking. And these songs go just as hard without overcompensating. The confidence combined with these more laid back, simple beats make it sound like they already know they're the shit. They are.
