I had thought that aboout the "no entry" signs. Is the subway to the station open yet?

Yes. The subway is open and the steps up the side of the hotel to the Talbot Road bus stops too.

How come that there is no tram stop on Talbot Road for trams going to Starr Gate or Fleetwood, but there is a tram stop for trams going to North Station?

Because there is a North Pier stop that both can use

In the time I was there, between start of service and 10:30, well over 100 travelled up or down the branch. The Promenade was, obviously, much busier.

They having to control the traffic lights manually at the north pier end of talbot road ?

No. It is done from the tram can but if a can or plastic bottle get wedged in the track, it breaks the circuit and sets the signal to danger. Even a sheet of paper in the wrong place does it!!
