Not happy with that horrible fat kid in the On The Beach advert before the main feature, but anyway. All the news channels and newspaper websites all showed the amateur footage from social media and took it all as fact. It gave us who live here and love the place feelings of dread to think our greatest landmark was burning. Thank goodness it was wrong, but sorry, it was sloppy journalism by all concerned. This is why I only trust YOU, Stephen, to bring us the facts about Blackpool. More power to your elbow....and all your other parts as well....😂😂😙❤👍

Exactly. I saw it on Sky News before anywhere else. Then when I checked, pretty much every local news paper (Gazette, Lancs Live etc) were reporting it as fact and 'there was chaos and pandemonium'. Hell, even TalkTV, and I quote their reporter directly 'Theres flames pouring out the windows, and we've got reports of multiple injuries'.

There are fires that start with a bit of fire and then there's a terrific fire within seconds so best to get everything there so you don't waste time for backup to come. Anyway a good way to see if the pre-arranged plan for evacuation etc they must have works.

I think because the tower is so memorable and iconic I was feeling tense and hoping people were fine if there was ever a fire so in a way I feel extremely happy but it was some sort of hoax. I first saw it on yt the independent so automatically presumed it was true😂

I would rather have a false alarm be it Orange plastic with a bit of sun reflecting making it look like a fire, than having a fire with no one taking any notice of it. I actually did not see anything going on, certainly no fire. I hope no was affected by this, as all resources were diverted to the Tower. At least you have sun; I haven't seen the sun all week, and today was horribly foggy! You would have thought you were in the UK 🇬🇧 and not in upstate New York!
