My brother's friend, Stephen New, US Army, KIA in Afghanistan, 2013. We owe them and everyone who has given their life for us a debt that can never be repaid.

Semper Fidelis, my Brothers and Sisters, from ALL services. A good friend of mine, Ssgt John Howard, died in a helicopter crash, Aug 2004, Iraq. Many of those I served with in Combat Cargo, 15th MEU on yhr Bellau Wood were infantry, and some also passed on to Valhalla. We have lost many, and I pray every day that their lives were not given in vain. God Bless those who served, God Bless those who perished, and God Bless the USA.

More than 20 years ago, August 16, 1991, Lt. Eric W. Allison, 26, USNR; Lt. (jg) Kenneth D. Pickens, 24, USN, AMSAN William A. Jackson, 20, and AE1C Johnny L. Caulder Jr., 28, died when a blade detached from the front rotor of their H-46 Sea Knight. They were with HC-11 out of San Diego, flying off my ship, the USS Camden AOE-2, and a week from home after a long WestPac cruise in support of the first Gulf War. RIP, brave souls.

I was able to say a final fair well to the sixteen men in from my unit that lost their life’s in Vietnam from 1967-1969..I was picked to be on the first Honor Flight since 2019 from my town. On April 19, 2022 we landed in D.C. and spent the day..We owe the fallen so very much and we must never forget them..God Bless Brothers..

I was at Kandahar Airfield for 22 months between 2009-2011 It was a really hot time (combat wise) during the war because of the surge. This Video gives me chills every time I've watched it which is multiple times and day since they released, over half of these guys were KIA in Kandahar Province or Helmand Province both of which I spent a majority of my time running the roads. I didn't know your brother but I don't have to to shed tears for him. ✝️ Sorry for your loss. 🇺🇲

I am the headstone engraver at Jefferson barracks national cemetery in st louis I've done 10s of thousands of headstones I honor every stone I do. I did the headstone of Lance corporal Jared Schmitz one of the 13 killed at Kubal airport he is one of the few I can put a face too. Maj Thomas Kennedy. US Army. His first assignment as a 2LT was as one of the PLs in my unit in the 82nd. Loved Hockey, played on the team at the academy. Tough as nails and fair, but one of the most subtle, funniest people I've ever met. Quick witted, sharp mind. He was a great leader, but an even greater mentor. Killed 8 August 2012, Sarkowi, Afghanistan PFC Benny Franklin. US Army. One of the crop of young guys joining my unit after we returned from OIF1. Great sense of humor, one of the most eager guys I ever knew in the service. Loved to learn new things, very driven, always had a positive mindset, and loved to laugh. Killed 7 October 2005, Kandahar, Afghanistan. LCPL Chris Lyons. USMC. Sadly, I didn't get to know him as well as I would have liked. His widow is a friend and classmate of mine from school, and the fact Bethany chose to marry him spoke volumes about his character as a man. His family and brothers in 3/25 would describe Chris as humble and hard working, he had a huge heart and loved his family and brothers. He loved to make people laugh and uplift and encourage everyone around him. He was always willing to do anything asked of him without hesitation or complaint. Killed 28 July 2005, Cykla, Iraq 1LT Michael Runyan. US Army. ... this one hurt a lot to hear about. I had his mom as a teacher in high school, and I graduated with his sister. His mom may not have been liked by a lot of students, but she cared and wanted to see everyone succeed. She was tough, but fair, and would put hours in with you outside of class if she knew you were willing to do the work. Mike and his brother and sister inherited that sense of fairness and willingness to help anyone willing to help themselves. He could change the mood of a whole room in 5 seconds with a quick joke, and his big, cheesy grin. He had an infectious personality, and was born to lead. Killed 21 July 2010, Muqdadiyah, Iraq. Maj Michael Stover. USMC. Grew up the next town over from him, and knew his family. Damn good leader. Loved his men like his own children. His whole family are the kind of people to open their door to anyone in need. Killed 3 June 2006. Taqaddum, Iraq. Spc David Jesse Garcia. US Army. The Azteca Immortal. Fucking legend in B 2/319th. One of the most beloved people in our unit. Incredibly positive, very genuine, humble, down to earth guy that loved spending time with everyone. He loved his family in and out of uniform. He didn't care what platoon you were in, or even if you were in a different unit altogether. Jesse truly believed everyone wearing the uniform was his brother or sister. Had one of the silliest, unforgettable laughs, and a warped sense of humor. Even though he was broken and hurting inside, he loved fiercely and lived voraciously. He loved traveling the country and visiting our brothers in the years after we left the service. Committed suicide 17 September 2013. Many, many more that I knew in my days in the Army or from the area I grew up in, but these 6 are the ones that always are in my heart.

Specialist Ronald Dean Allen Jr, KIA 8/25/2003, hwy 1 Iraq. It’s been almost 20 years and I still miss my big bro. His death ate away at my family and still gets to me 19 years later. I miss you Ronnie and hope that your telling Mom, Dad, my Wife all of the stupid things we use to do as kids. God bless all of the soldiers that have paid the Ultimate Sacrifice to preserve our freedoms. Please think of them and the families they left behind this Memorial Day. Though the years make life easier to bear, the pain of that loss never goes away.

Army Capt. Mark N. Stubenhofer 30, of Springfield, Virginia. Stubenhofer died in Baghdad, Iraq, when his unit was conducting dismounted operations and was attacked by small arms fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Fort Riley, Kansas. Died on December 7, 2004. Sir, you were and still are one of my most influential leaders that I have ever had the honor to have trained with and deployed with throughout my Army career. I still to this very day, sir, have your pictures along with your accomplishments and many fellow soldiers who have served under your command during the very short time that you were alloted on this plain of existence favorite memories had with you in our time of service framed and posted on my living room wall. It's been 18 long long years sir, that we rolled into Bagdad and I think of you often. Captain, you are not forgotten and we will never forget. Captain Mark Stubenhofer was the major influence on myself and the soldier I became over my 20 plus year career in this army. This man was a soldier's soldier! 1st Battalion 41st infantry Regiment benefited greatly from what the Captain taught us...well definitely I myself learned so much from my leader, my great friend and brother, Captain Mark Stubenhofer. He was and still is a man who when I was young kid scared to death as 1-41 Task Force kicked it into high gear plowing into Iraq at a high rate of speed...as this army does. Captain Stubenhofer was that type of soldier that you might picture going into basic training you wanted to be like that man as you moved forward in this career we chose. This man worked almost flawlessly under the extraordinary circumstances that we would quickly find ourselves in...deploying to war! The type of leader I didn't want to let down, ya know. And I can only hope that the Captain is somewhere right now and watching his soldiers in action kicking ass and all around the globe. Knowing that he had correctly and accurately his job as a leader of the excellent men and women who fighting with myself in Iraq in the early days of that operation. I loved my time with you all at Fort Riley, Kansas. To the battles who just like our Captain Stubenhofer gave their lives or their physical or mental health in service to this great country in my army...you are all true warriors and saints among us all. And it has been my greatest honor and pleasure to have served with such competent troops. You are all dearly missed and will forever be remembered as great soldiers who got the job done and accomplished the mission even at the greatest of cost and sacrifice. I love you all. First line hits home for me i just let my pops go two saturdays ago he was force recon vietnam raised mw with the same semperfi do or die attitude they instilled at paris he fell off the wagon hard and chose slow death by addiction but through all that fog the marine inside was fighting the demons right to the very end his passing was like watching an exorcism and in the end the marine won and i got my pops back for 5 minutes asked if it was ok to go even like true soldier i told him yes and it was overand like that he was gone.. he loathed the idea of being in cemetary or big funerals so me my mom and wife and four buddies went to the mountains this weekend and gave him his 21 gun and sent him home seeing your comment brought back so many memories of the great man and soldier he was only ever told me two things about his time vietnam was hot and he didnt live till those blues were put on

Rest in peace Jerry Reynolds, my grandfathers best friend from childhood. They were both Radio Operator Infantry Rifleman in ww2. Jerry was KIA in Salerno. and my grandfather made it to Southern France with the 45th before being wounded himself. Thought I'd mention his name cause I've never found much on him (like his obituary or tombstone etc) God bless every single veteran who's paid the ultimate sacrifice. They're unforgotten heros

Private Lawrence “Larry” Gowell II. A great friend of my dad’s. Died on leave due to a drug overdose in Litchfield, Maine. July 15, 2009. He had a pain in his leg and tried taking him to the hospital. He refused since he just got home. Few days later he died. It was just after his first tour in Iraq too

SSG Ricky A Keiffer, KIA, 3-15-2005, Baghdad. Hell of a friend, father, husband and NCO. He loved hunting and fishing buy most of all his family. (Both his immediate family and his mil family) There were many times he would have his bass boat on the trailer at work on Wednesday's because that was tournament night. After work he and a couple other guys would take off and go fish in a weekly tournament. (We were all National Guard fulltime technicians and we all served within either the same company or at least battalion) I don't remember how exactly he and I got started on our "Love drinkin' " catch phrase but we were known for it. Somehow we ended up in the same BNCOC ph1 course and squad. Every now and then during class we look at each other and mouth "Love drinkin' " and we'd smirk. Lead instructor finally asked "What the hell are you two talking about?" so Ricky flat out said "Love drinkin' " which of course caused me to lose all military bearing and I started laughing. The instructor didn't find it as humorous but took us aside at break and told us to knock it off, which we did. So many more stories of Ricky I could go on for hours. He was just a great guy. Well, time to go make a run over and see him. Some of us still go see him on March 15th and today, have a beer with him, bs for a few then continue on our way. Never forgotten.

Two uncles pete and john left it all on omaha while not it war he definately lost his life in a battle that never stoped when vietnam did bob nickels force recon my dad 2 weeks ago saturday memorial day has always hit hard for me my pops had his flaws but he raised me to be a veteran respecting patriot to the point that it makes up a huge part of my core beliefs love you pops even if none of us knew what you were going through or how to help you
