@@blackriverfossils Glad to hear you made up for the disappointment. I'm going to be in the area in January- so thanks for all the great videos. I've learned a lot. New Hampshire/Massachusetts has little to offer in the way of fossils. Big chunks of granite, lol.

You could really start up a museum with your collection. You know that, right?!? Over the years you must have found hundreds of thousands of teeth and other cool stuff!! Love those top quality makos

quantity-wise maybe so, but I lack the big centerpieces like skulls and skeletons that people come to museums to see. I still have a few good decades of collecting left, so ya never know! Thanks for watching!

You know that I love your videos! For us amateurs, in a future video, could you show a side by side comparison of fossilized teeth and non-fossilized teeth? It could be interesting.
@blackriverfossils2 жыл бұрын
thats a good idea but I don't have any modern shark teeth for comparison. i've thought about picking up a few on ebay but i can't get around the thought that doing so would support slaughtering sharks for their teeth. i love those monsters and they're better off with their teeth.

I always worry about hitting up the construction sites, they got their undies in a wad at the Berling G site. I did find a few thing out there before hand. Would love to take a trip out with you guys one day, IF i can ever find time.

Love your videos we share the same passion, I've got quite a collection from over 44 years of life growing up in Florida... I know you didn't put the vertebrates in the box so they didn't crush the teeth... Next time just put the teeth on top of the vertebrates!
@blackriverfossils2 жыл бұрын
thats a good idea next time i'll do that. i'm betting we'll find some more big verts out there, and hopefully some big teeth. Your FL collection has got to be insane! Wonderful collecting in FL. I love hunting down there. We used to go diving in Venice every year but its been a few years since we've been.

@@blackriverfossils I would say 75% of my stuff was found with a mask and snorkel in spring runs throughout Central Florida, and on the St. Johns River! I have never found a Meg! I've had one found right next to me, but finding my first Meg seems to be my nemesis! However I did find a big piece of Meg root at Venice Beach. I've always wanted to dive off the coast there and find some big ones!

@@robertkaiser456 i love snorkeling but where we hunt its almost always too deep for that so we have to dive. venice is a dream compared to here because you can actually see! ive seen some beauties come out down there after the hurricane so now is a great time to try. good luck on your meg quest!

My 8-year-old son and I are coming down to Charleston from December 27th to January 2nd. We have been watching your videos and he loves the thrill of looking for shark teeth. He was wondering if you guys would be available for a guide or point in the right direction for him. He doesn't care type of teeth they are. He just wants to find teeth.
@blackriverfossils2 жыл бұрын
I am just an amateur collector so I don't guide tours, but there are lots of people who do. I am not affiliated with any of them but I have collected with Palmetto Fossil Excursions before and they have their own pit and they do find teeth. If you want to go it alone, you can find teeth in dorchester creek next to the pawn shop at the corner of dorchester road and old trolley road in summerville. its a well known public spot so there are not giant teeth all over the bottom, but you can find small ones. bring a spaghetti strainer and a little garden trowel to scoop gravel from the bottom and you should be able to find some. also, you'll have to go at low tide - use the bacons bridge road gauge on the ashley river to get the timing right. happy hunting!
