I feel like I’m watching a video in Florida. Great video!

The shells make me think of Florida too. most of the spots around here don't have those. thanks for watching!

Im trying to find a spot in Alabama that i can take my husband. He's a disabled veteran, he can't walk very much. Do you know of a place i could take him?
@blackriverfossils4 ай бұрын
i've never hunted in Alabama so i don't know any spots there but I have heard of people hunting near a dam near Andalusia. I don't know how accessible it is but hopefully its a good lead for yall to find some teeth.

Awesome finds thank you for sharing your video. Your narrow mako has the root of a planus hook tooth like you would find in Bakersfield. It might be a transitional tooth. Thanks again I hope you have a great 4th!
@blackriverfossils4 ай бұрын
i thought that root was planus looking too. I'm glad i went to Bakersfield to collect some of those teeth, very cool species. i hear they find them in Japan too.
@bobpaup42224 ай бұрын
@@blackriverfossils yes they collect them in the Tokyo area. Most of the bone layer has been covered up by buildings.

A close second to the Sloth Party site! One great tooth after another. That Angi was awesome, and in spite of the feeding damage I really liked that little Meg too. I got some Alabama hunting in the other day, but the highlight was taking my son’s little cousin for her first hunt, and she found a beast of a tooth that rivals my top teeth from that place. It’s hard to shake the addiction haha but I don’t plan on trying to quit anytime soon!
@blackriverfossils4 ай бұрын
its a healthy addiction so there's no need to shake it! Its awesome to hear about your passing the hobby along to the next generation. Someday we're gonna be too old to keep hunting and I already know I'll need future addicts to post their finds so can get my retirement home fix! thanks for the great comment and for watching!

Yall are killing me! I would love to find teeth of that caliber, your shamers would be on display on my wall 😂. I only get to hunt 2x-3x a year when we go to the coast unfortunately. We fish and hunt sharks teeth the entire time. Got my wife into it and now my inlaws. I'm from the foothills of NC so no rivers or land based stuff to hunt here unfortunately. Is there any land based sites in SC or NC you know of that would be available to the public with Mako's and Angies? And Megs of course...

you should check out a creek called Greensmill Run located in Greenville NC. There are numerous spots on that creek where you can find many different fossil shark teeth species including great whites, makos, and even megs sometimes. I saw a guy sift out a 5 incher there so I know its possible. beyond that, you can also find really nice crow shark teeth which are much older than those other species. I even saw someone find an arrowhead there once so it can produce it all. plan to go over to Aurora and visit the Aurora Fossil Museum too since its not far from Greenville and houses a superb collection of shark teeth from the world famous Lee Creek quarry. you can find teeth in the spoil piles around town which are brought in every year from the quarry in support of the Aurora Fossil Festival. It should be a fun time for y'all. Happy hunting!

@@blackriverfossils Very much appreciate the recommendations, especially the creek recommendation! We frequent Topsail Island (saw a woman pull a 3" meg out of the sand on N Topsail 😮💨 10' in front of us) where we find ALOT of teeth just nothing like the size of yours. Definitely pinning the Greenville location you suggested. We've heard of Aurora and considered it but we want the experience of pulling them from the ground or creek bed. Honestly I'm just not much of a "crowd" person haha, so not trying to dig in town square. We're very interested in Charleston Fossil Adventures for a short trip to the coast. Do you know of any other similar operations in SC that you would recommend?
@blackriverfossils4 ай бұрын
@@no_step_on_snek9796 Aurora is not exactly a bustling metropolis so as long as you don't go during the festival, you don't have to worry about a crowd. everybody digs in the piles when they are there so its just another day to the locals. i have never been on any fossil hunting tours around here and I'm not affiliated with any of them but I've ran into Ashby from CFA a few times at events. Nice guy. He routinely posts his finds on instagram too so he's finding stuff. Y'all would have a good time with him.
