True, and a large part of that problem consists of our internal racial indoctrination. I hope we can come out the end of the madness as a decent ethnic group. The racial propaganda is steady and strong, though. The problem with "racial" identity, with any group who subscribes to it, is that it is often more reactive than reflective. It encourages an ideology that says, "My condition is immediately related to my natural state," not one that emphasizes the approach of "I can develop a culture and discipline to condition the way I behave." We must change that and empower our sense of ethnic history/value/direction, and then we can gain a better sense of self-control and structure within our own ethnic families/communities. Full-on individualism is not the best answer either. A dose of healthy collectivism is what's needed to see significant change when it concerns African American people. Last I checked there was no class system, written in law or otherwise, that checks to see if your ancestors were on the continent 240+ years ago.

I am one of the few who has an Ancestor from the very beginning. My cousin inherent land from his grandfather who inherent it from his grandfather there is a whole wall dedicated to my mothers side of the family and it is a very sizable farm land so it makes quite about 2 million a year if I recall correctly. As long as there are different cultures there will be different percentages of fathers in the household, different levels of emphasis put on academics, and different levels of economic success. We all have a subtle but real reluctance to go outside our racial comfort zone. It is not only true in the US but in most European States too. In the UK (my country) our parliament is made up of mostly white people, but there are more white people in social housing and poverty than other ethnic groups. We have only a small number of MPs of Indian Descent in Parliament yet the Indians are doing far better than any other ethnic group in the UK, it has nothing to do with who's in power, it's all to do with individuals willing to work hard to achieve. Welfare keeps people in poverty because many on benefits lack the ability to save and spend money accordingly, in short; they suck with money. I've been on welfare, got Job seeker's allowance and almost everyone going there for benefits wore new branded clothing, smartphones and even cars so if these people are in desperate need to live, where did all the luxurious stuff come from? I still get DLA (due to having Autism, an unfortunate circumstances for me) but I will never go to the job centre for more benefits because it's unfair on hard working taxpayers to pay double on me. I will admit I suck with money, I am trying to correct that mistake and push myself to get a job, I will not rob the people of my country by sitting around doing nothing.

Welfare has participated in the increase of single motherhood throughout all races but it is at its highest in the black population. Welfare pays more to a single mother with many children than to a married couple with the same amount of children. That encourages those who rely on welfare to not marry and continue to have children out of wedlock. Then we have statistics that show a child who grows up without two loving parents is significantly more likely to become criminals. Welfare needs a dramatic change. So it might have to do with that along with the “welfare state” and the fact that soon after that you had the war on drugs in the 70’s which made the prison terms harsher this keeping the incarcerated person away from their family longer if not forever which caused many women to become single mothers and be on welfare so they could support their children. All while people are huffing lead based air from gasoline and eating lead paint chips which caused people to be more violent around that time and led to more incarceration’s and blah blah blah years go by people die or fight in prison and stay longer or never leave and a generation of kids from mostly poor backgrounds are now grown up and in the world they aren’t fully prepared for so they make mistakes they don’t need to and their kids have to grow up the same way they did blah blah blah things happen lots of killing and death and racist stuff blah blah and boom. Crappy education mixed with bad incentives plus wrecked homes and a dash of pent up racism and you’ve got your answer. Enjoy

There's more wisdom (facts, reasoning and clarity) in a any single Sowell book (for example, The Economics and Politics of Race, highly relevant to this video) than the entire literature of the political left. Even his articles are more substantial than entire books by most of his intellectual opponents. The best the left can do is either ignore him or label him as a "token black conservative". Good to see Jason Riley following in Sowell's footsteps, so to speak.

Black token conservatives are outliners and racists use them to dismiss the concerns and struggles of the African American community. This is no different than "The Model Minority" myth that the Asian American community has to deal with.

You care more about his skin colour and that his conclusions are different from yours than what his reasoning is. It's doubtful you've actually read any of his work or have any intelligent responses as you would have shared them. That Asians (and Jews) do relatively well (better than whites) despite racism against them is a fact, contradicting the claim that blacks fail due to racism. Even more striking, blacks from some areas do far better than others. For example, blacks in the north often scored better on IQ tests than whites in the south. Blacks from the Caribbean tend to earn more than blacks from sub-Saharan Africa. The myth of "white privilege" is far more pervasive, racist and harmful.

By using a black person to push that narrative they can get away with making racist statements. It is not that difficult to figure out the point of this video. As for the Asian and Jewish part. They are not doing better than Whites...and Judaism is a religion not an ethnicity this is common knowledge. The Model minority myth was propaganda made during the Cold War as a means to "clean up" America's negative image with the Asian community because they knew the Soviets would use America's abysmal civil rights record against them in Asia. It was also used to dismiss racism claims the African America community. By saying "The system isn't racist you people aren't working hard enough. Look at the Asians they don't have a problem with it" It was nothing more than an a racist prop.

It is also a fact that the same studies which show blacks get turned down for bank loans more often than whites also show that whites are turned down more often than Asians. The point is that *despite* racism against Asians, which clearly exists to some degree, they succeed economically. Hence, the fact that blacks have a lower income does not prove that it's due to racism. There are other simple factors which can be measured - how much time spent studying each week, credit scores, spending habits, proportion of children born out of wedlock, etc. All of these vary between races and blacks have many internal problems. It isn't because of whites that about 70% of black children are born to unmarried parents. That's compared to about 25% back in 1960. The welfare system is a far more plausible explanation for this phenomenon than a legacy of slavery or modern-day racism. The same issues are found among lower class whites in the US and the UK. Blacks spend more on visible goods - cars, clothes and jewellery - proportionally than most other groups. In polls, every group agrees that blacks are the most racist, on average, including blacks themselves. Although Judaism is a religion, it has historically been aligned and associated with certain ethnic groups - some people are ethnically Jewish, even if they aren't religious. You're yet another person who refuses to face facts, to actually read Sowell's work and openly consider it or to be able to put together any coherent argument against his actual claims. His race is irrelevant. He looks at Italians, Germans, Jews, blacks, the Irish, Indians, Japanese, Chinese, Latinos and other groups, not just in the US and not just in the 20th century, but all around the world for centuries. His Race and Culture trilogy goes into a huge amount of depth. Unlike leftists, he is not obsessed with only blacks and whites in the US, nor with pushing a narrow agenda. You dismiss him because you dislike his views, not because you have any rational argument against them (or even familiarity with his actual reasoning).

@@Gretchaninov Asian Americans do not earn more on average than White Americans. That is another lie propagated by the Model Minority myth. The reason why Black families are often torn a part is because of racist policies that were forced upon them. If you were black back in the 60s and prior you were often denied getting a loan and you were unable to buy a house in White neighborhoods there were deeds on these suburban homes that forbid resell to black buyers. Black people were also cut out of the GI bill when it was introduced back in WW2 because the Federal government left it up to the States to distribute the bill thus Black soldiers were often left out on building prosperity and passing that wealth on to their children. There was also redlining which kept Black people living in hastily shoddy built neighborhoods thus making it difficult for them to sell their homes. Yet in the affluent white suburbs which went for a lot of money, home owners would sell their homes and use that money to put their kids through collage, start a business or retire. Then there is the war on drugs which sole purpose was to destabilize the black community Judaism is a religion it is not an ethnicity. The reason people back then thought it was a race because it was easier for governments and other authorities to discriminate against them by branding Jewish people was outsiders. Jews did not have the same protection as Catholics or Protestants there was not political or economic backlash to targeting them. It was easy to put all of societies ills on a group many considered not a part of their society.
