Tim, been following you for a good while now and I keep discovering missed gems like this one. I did relate strongly to the lack of need to rush when forge welding ie no need for hammering as if you're in fast forwards or the like. Haste makes for a cidents with metal in its plastic state. Thanks.

*_Scrapmascus !!!_* Since you were wondering what to call it, I vote for *_scrapmascus !!_* That came out as a really pretty billet !! I love the big dots from the chain, those would contrast really well against some twisted Damascus in a knife... my mind is leaking out of my skull !!!

I've been watching you for a while now with my grandson and we both like your "what you see is what you get" calm no foolishness demeanor. No skullduggery, covering over mistakes, just trying to share with others your craft. We are in the process of setting up a shop and like what we've seen of yours. Keep up the good work. Paw-Paw and Worm say over and out for now.

Those skull openers were pretty sweet. Being a self taught novice, youtube blacksmiths like yourself really help a lot when i can see "detailed" project or instructional videos for blacksmithing. I think a great boon to my abilities would be to get to spend a day or two with a pro.

I've subscribed recently Tim, but have followed you and Alec Steele's video's for a long time. I'm the one who shares your fascination of beating the crap out of things. My SKULL doesn't need a bottle opener, but a sample piece of Damascus made into a key ring/chain would be nice. I know the drawing is long gone btw...just wanted to say hi!!

Tim, You had me beat with the video anyway, I am currently working on a sort of san mi billit using chainsaw chain, farm chain, 15n20 from you and 1095 bansaw blades. sandwiched two of these billits with a large piece of 5160 between them. Both of the chain billits were not forge welded prior. I have been at it for around four days now and ran out of propane. Unlike you I do not have a power hammer, press, or striker just my guns. On the 4th daybefore I started I drilled the spaces between the chain that appeared that they would be cold shuts so I am trying to avoid this. The billit started out at 2 5/8in thick, 6in long, and 4in wide after the forth day of forging it is 1 1/2 thick 8in long and 3inwide so I am closing things up slowly. In fact today I had broke out the 8 lb sledge hammer. I will be posting the video on my channel as soon as I can get threw all this footage. I am hoping that this billit comes together I am hoping to do another fist. I am wanting to create a bowie of some other large fighter. By the way great work on this one perhaps you should twist the heck out of it give it a ladder pattern and add a teardrop to boot Ive heard it said go big or go home right? Oh I almost forgot SKULL, SKULL SKULL, SKULL, SKULL, SKULL, SKULL, SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLL LLLLLLLLLLLLL. LOL. To ad id love to here your input when I post the video it would truly be an honor for your sapport and comments... Thanks in advance, Martin M&S Blades
