God I wish you were doing this years ago when I made candles. I used to stress about my test burns and was probably overthinking. I just got back into making candles and I really enjoy these videos, they are so helpful. I just made my first test batch after atleast 6 yrs of not doing it so I can't get enough of these...I have been binge watching😅.

I just started making candles and have been doing a lot of research to try and make the best candle I can. I came across your videos and you’ve been so helpful! Also I see some of your Chiefs stuff in videos so you must be from the KC area like me. I’m still testing to find the best wax blends and wick sizes to fit my jars but I’d love to send you some candles in the future for your feedback!

There is a popular boutique in Florida called "A scent to remember". It sells handmade bath products and candles. It's very very popular, so when you Google "scents to remember" the Florida boutique comes up. I would be a little a little worried about the name because of the algorithm when you go to search it.

Have you done any videos on strictly wickless candles? Candle warmers?
@BlackTieBarn2 жыл бұрын
I have not. But you can basically add a bit more fo if you want and just not insert a wick. I also think firmer waxes work a bit better with those

Is it recommended to add the scent description on the sticker label if the title doesn’t give the scents away?

@@sabrinalee7946 highlighting the main ones probably. but depending on your label size and layout, you could include them all if you want. I would jut play around with it. THere isn't a right or wrong answer

Hello been testing 6006 get some soot what wicks do you recommend for this wax
@BlackTieBarn2 жыл бұрын
Some waxes just do it more than others especially in certain jars. A little soot is fine and normal. You won't prevent it all. But jar size matters a lot. What is diameter. You might try double wicking with smaller wicks
@tekaharold85992 жыл бұрын
@@BlackTieBarn hello the diameter is 3.5 and 5 inches they are from dollar tree
@BlackTieBarn2 жыл бұрын
@@tekaharold8599 ah yes. VERY hard size to wick especially with viscous waxes like 6006. You will defintiely want to double wick that with two smaller wicks instead. Experiment with those and i think you will have better results

@Draconamous2 жыл бұрын
So I had an idea the other day and want to ask here with knowledgeable people. Is there a wax I can dye and add into 6006 that won't melt during the hardening process but melt during a burn to add flakes of color but not dying the whole candle.
@BlackTieBarn2 жыл бұрын
Never heard of such a thing myself, but I know what you mean. You can add tiny cubes of dyed wax using a different wax type (a harder one like a pillar wax) so it doesn't melt at the same rate. But it wont flake off. It will just slowly change the color probably. And it could affect wicking and you might end up with unsed wax at the bottom. lol
@Draconamous2 жыл бұрын
@@BlackTieBarn Well I wasn't thinking about cubes. I was thinking more the coarse side of a cheese grater. That way it should minimally effect the burn while adding little colors along the way. I do have to test it, but it seems like a possibility.

HI Wade...Could you please let me know your thoughts on this. I have asked my suppliers and they can't really advise. What Max temperature is acceptable for the outside of the jar after a 4 hour burn for the average candle?
@BlackTieBarn2 жыл бұрын
ASTM standards last I checked were around 175 F. But those are just guidelines. There is nothing set in stone or any legal policies regarding this that I am aware of. I hope that helps

Hi Rachel, since my hands are immuned from feeling heat due to manual art projects, I am always concerned about container temperature. Atleast for getting an accurate reading I found that laser thermometer didn't seem accurate against glass. I got those stickers that the restaurants use to measure dishwasher temperature. Just a thought.
