After watching this video 1000 times and taking notes starting & stoping & pausing over a period of 3 to 4 days due to the massive interruptions of life.... finally finally finally I poured a successful candle with the correct FO % as well as the fill weight. I've never had issues with math or weight conversions, however, when I started making candles, because of the 1% to 1lb formula that most manufacturers use, I kept wasting wax and fragrance or I wasn't filling my jars to the fill line. THANK YOUUUUU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I'm just starting and my first batch I wasted a lot of FO. I experienced the sweating and I honestly had no real idea how to do the calculations. This is the candle making hidden gem. I really appreciate you for disclosing the proper information and calculations. OK, I just broke down this formula math and now I am second-guessing myself... HELP! My fill line is 11oz. Using the math, with 10% FO, the wax will be 10oz, FO% 1oz. Is this correct? The rule of thumb is 1oz per 1lb of wax, with 11oz and 1oz FO that seems too much??

Two things: This is by far the most accurate and well explained information on how to calculate FO. You have shown that the method used by most others results in errors in FO up to a full percentage.....not good. Second, for candle jars without fill lines I fill on a scale. Tare the jar with wick and fill the jar until the weight equals the finished wax weight. Works every time. Thanks, excellent job!

Just divide 16/1.1 oz for a 10% FO for a 16oz candle. (Same math she used I got it from OP) Let me know if you have trouble for other jars I can help you.

I finally got this formula. I’ve only made about 20 candles by subtracting the fragrance oil percentage of the fill weight to get my wax weight and overloading my candles. Lucky I was only calculating about 8%. But this makes much more sense.
