Massive 1000lb Tiger Shark caught while Bottom Fishing in the Bahamas - 4K

While I was bottom fishing in the Bahamas, I hooked a massive tiger shark on my Shimano Tiagra 130. We estimated the size of this tiger shark to be 14ft in length and weigh around 1000lbs. I was fishing out of Old Bahama Bay Resort in the Bahamas. We started the day deep dropping directly out front of Old Bahama Bay Resort. We caught a yelloweye snapper on our electric reel, then we switched gears and traveled north to go wahoo fishing. The ocean was very rough, too rough for wahoo, so we decided to head into the shallow water and try bottom fishing. I hooked a reef shark while bottom fishing and out of nowhere a massive tiger shark swims to the boat and eats the reef shark on the end of my line. It was unbelievable!

For those of you wondering, flipping a tigershark upside down puts it on a trance like state called tonic immobility. During this state, most of its sense slow, causing it to kind of relax. A shark like this will only stay in this state for a about 15 minutes, so it should be ok being left like this. The stress of it being caught, however, may be what kills it if it died.

Just for those who don't know about this. Eddie Hall, the first or second strongest man in the world (depends on who you ask) lifted basically this half ton shark in a single deadlift, as well as Thor Bjornson. Seeing the size of the shark, and the weight, gives a better idea of how much it actually is. Impressive.

It's almost essential for deep sea line fishing, trying to reel in 1000ft of line by hand several times just to check your bait will leave you drained when the real fight comes along
