The only reason rockets are being fired into Northern Israel is the ongoing destruction and excessive civilian deaths in Gaza with complicity of the United States. It is almost a year now, and there is still fighting in Gaza, a territory that is occupied and controlled by Israel with Hamas fighters having rudimentary weapons. No fighter jets, no sophisticated weaponary, no satellite information, no tanks, no armoured vehicles and the IDF bombing the hell out of the whole place for a year now, still fighting is ongoing. No Arab leader or Lebanese leader after the events of Gaza will even think about your talking points. The Shia/Sunni Muslim thing is a divide and conquer thing pushed by the US. The longer this goes on, the more anger on the streets across the region, the less likely any of the leaders in the Arab world who are very unpopular within the various nations can even dare listen to any advice from the US.

Whats going to happen right now (I am in Israel) is that the IDF is going to reach the Litani River at its closest point to Israel and swing West towards Tyre. 500,000 Shiite Muslims have fled from Southern Lebanon back to Syria where they came from over the 30 years of Hezbollah occupation. The IDF is moving more divisions into Southern Lebanon to hold everything South of the Litani and yes they will over a period of time degrade Hezbollah infrastructure which they already have. 2000 targets have been destroyed since the ground invasion and more than 400 Hezbollah fighters. This is not the same IDF that was around in 2006. It has been battle hardened and is performing excellent. When the dust settles, the Druze and Christians on the ground who actually had always been living there will work with the IDF to ensure the Shiites don't come back.
