To think this was the first modern Marvel movie that started the ball rolling. Blade doesn't get enough credit for what it did. Most people point to Deadpool as being the first graphic and violent superhero movie, but Blade was there long before.

Making Blade a half vampire is something made up for the movie. In the comic his exposure as a baby led him to be immune to vampire mind control... But the vampires in the movie didn't have mind control like they do in the Marvel Comics, so that wouldn't work.

The idea that bullets can harm a Vampire really isn't that difficult to imagine, and I've seen about three different ways shown in various pop culture mediums (movies, TV shows, video games, etc.). Ways I've seen include bullets made of silver (like here in Blade), bullets that have been given a bath in holy water, and bullets that have crosses engraved into their tips (like in the movie Priest).

The reason why most of the vampires were immediately turning to ash is because they were taking the weapon strikes in the main body, hitting vital organs like the heart. The reason why the one guy seemed to keep surviving is because he was only losing his hands, or other possibly other limbs historically. Given the assumed history between him and Blade, it's likely that he just got extraordinarily lucky during all their encounters, and vampires are shown to regenerate limbs fairly quickly. Of course, that's just the way it seems to be working from what I see in the movie.

@artdogg50

Exactly. The reason he survived the first time and likely the other times is because Blade simply allowed him to live. Wasn't anything special about him from the other vampires. The 2nd time is I believe he simply got lucky in the fight by the train and ran away before Blade could finish him off.

One thing that often gets overlooked about the finale is that isn't Blade's serum. It's the anticoagulant that the doctor came up with. Frost boasts that he "knows everything" about Blade, but he only knows the surface level stuff, not the finer details. So when frost see's that Blade has a bunch of the vials he assumes they're serums (because Frost thinks like an addict), "I bet you're dying for a drink." "Try some, you might like it." Had Frost actually taken the bait the whole thing would have been over right there.

Very cool reaction video! To answer your question concerning Quinn (Frost's "right hand" man, played by Donal Logue who played Harvey Bullock in Gotham as well as Nicolas Cage's hypeman/manager in Ghost Rider) it is explained in the extras on the original release of the Blade DVD that his type of vampire has a natural resistance to silver and a fairly quick ability to regenerate. There are 12 vampire houses (represented by the members of the council you see in the movie) and each house and the people they turn pass down various traits. This is also mentioned in the commentary track for the film. But the original DVD release had a double-sided disc packed full of extras, going into detail about each individual vampire house and a lot of other interesting information about the film's lore.

Thank you for reaction and for using a very few censorships on movie. There are a lot of reactors who are blurred every freaking bloodspot. When Blade visited the vampire club there was two Japanese girls on the scene singing a song. It's actual song made especially for the movie. It called "Chin-chin". All the lyrics is the ephemisms about the p*nis. If you want another "cool-vampires type" movie - I recommend you "Underworld" with Kate Beckinsale.

My thoughts exactly. Typically women used to be written as the scared women who aren't much help, always scared, and need to be constantly saved or looked after. To me Blade and Whistler toughened her up really fast by immediately leaving her to seemingly have to fend for herself and Blade telling her she'd have to learn to pull the trigger if she wanted to survive.

@@DestinyAwaits19 Um, what the fuck are ya on about? The only thing vaguely "cyberpunkish" about the second film were the ninja get-ups the Bloodpack were introduced in. It was more animeesque or like a John Woo film which fits the tone and aesthetic Norrington set with the original, Del Toro just took it to another level whilst Goyer and the writers and directors of the Series sort of made it more urban, morally ambiguous and gritty like Norrington`s first film with the vampire ash drug allegory as well as expanding on the Pureblood vs. Turnedblood dichotomy within the Vampire Nation with the Purebloods feeling entitled to rule due to being direct descendants of Drake whilst the Turnedbloods are more impatient and sadistic due to the vampire virus and thirst making them see their old human relatives as cattle and food as well as evolutionary inferiors.

Blade is a dhamphir the child born to a pregnant women who is bitten and is thus half vampire and half human. a similar character is Alucard in the video game and anime Castlevania. Blade along with a few other supernatural based characters such as The Ghost Rider, Hannibal King, Frank Drake (some of dracula) and Michael Mornius (a human scientist to turned himself into a vampire like creature while trying to cure a blood disease) occasionally form a team known as the Midnight sons to fight supernatural villains like Dravula or Mepjisto in marvel comics continuity

32:38 In most fictions, when someone becomes a vampire, they become a warped version of their original self. Blade's mother as *he* met her was not the same woman who nearly died giving birth to him. The whole "friendly, neighborhood vampire" trope is actually pretty modern intended to sanitize vampires for less dark stories.

I think your commentary on Karen was a little misplaced. I agree with you that the character didn't display a huge range of emotions between the time she was bitten until the end of movie. As someone pointed out Karen did not act like the damsel in distress cliche'. Her character wasn't acting like a screaming hysterically or sniveling crying mess. As we see early on in the film, she possibly accepted the fact that she was going to become a vampire, or she became determined to find a cure which she did. As someone also mentioned that Wesley Snipes is a martial arts master for better part his entire adult life. Snipes also choreographed the fight scenes in this movie and with Snipes being so fast with his movements it was difficult to film his punches at normal speed. Reportedly, the director had asked Wesley if he could slow down a little for better filming. I think it's easier to see individual moves during a 1 on 1 fight as opposed to several attackers at once type of fighting.
@cinemawithsteph
@cinemawithsteph Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! My issue with Karen isn’t that she wasn’t a damsel in distress. I prefer female characters who aren’t to be honest. My issue was more that when she finds out these creatures are real, her reaction didn’t line up with how I imagine someone would find out learning that news. You can still be scared or shocked and not be a damsel in distress. Also that’s crazy about Wesley Snipes! It sounds crazy yet also makes total sense - his fight scenes were amazing! Thanks for watching!

Number one Karen is an emergency room doctor, there's nothing they haven't seen before. So all the blood isn't really going to freak her out. She's very used to working with blood work lab work so to speak so you know nothing new there. Pretty much after couple days of seeing the s*** she's seen much probably pretty much acceptable I guess at this point. Plain and simple emergency room doctor they've seen it all nothing surprises him anymore after a while. Need to read up or watching videos of real-life emergency room techniques and what they go through along with all the rest of the real life First Responders and what they go through then you'll understand why Karen didn't just freak out every time a door opened.

And I'll add that when Blade and Whistler left her to go home seemingly by herself. Actually, silver was more of a vampire weakness in the original mythology, in fact the reason vampires had no reflection was because mirrors used to be lined with silver in medieval times. Silver was the holy metal and vampires were considered a satanic corruption of human corpses. Silver being a werewolf weakness was mainly a Hollywood thing like vampires burning up in sunlight.

can i ask where your watching this from? i had this on DVD and iv seen it on a free movie site but they had subtitles when they spoke that vampire language. im just wandering why they dont here. and in case your wander Blade was talking about the 12 sacrifices and the blood god in their language :) iv noatest the lack of subtitles bf in this vid im just not sure why it took me this long to bring it up : / (edit) i do have a thought and why his mom is acting like this. maybe be coming a vampire you loose your humanity in the literal sense meaning if you where a saint as a human you become evil and deductive as a vampire even to what was once your family, which is a sick not going to lie X_X i cinda sucks though that when Blade sun kicked that last BoomBoom serum in to Frosts head the screen was blured. that was an EPIC way to (and in the words of Mortal Combat: FINISH HIM) lol im sorry not sorry i just got weird there at the end. that can happen. i get what i call "weird" spikes lol. and lets be honest im with Steph no one likes a karen lol aaaand it continues ill stop now...

While there have certainly been better super hero films made since Blade it stands as a bit of a classic, not just a pretty good film in its own right but the real starting point to Marvel as a movie power house. Prior to blade there was just a handful of usually low budget failures from an ailing Marvel (Especially as compared to DC who had several big successes with some Batman and Superman films. The early ones of which still hold up today.), after Blade there was X-Men, Spiderman, etc leading up to and in to the MCU juggernaut that dominated for a decade and is only just losing steam these past couple of years.

I was a teenager when Tracy Lords was still making some quite good Porno films. As far as I know she is the First to move from Porn to Hollywood Movies. 🤔Come to think of it really makes no difference who you sell your soul to in the end, its all Satan in the end.

I wanted to watch with u I watched your blade 2 reaction the editing was better but this one not so much unless reactors learn to leave more of the movie visible and not blurred out with the person going off on theories and questions its literally pointless its basically watching someone watch a blurred out screen with 7 seconds of footage and 10 seconds of it blurred continuously like I said ur blade 2 was watchable but this was pointless it was just blurred out 80% of the time sorry babe
