Right on! Love to hear about people getting BACK into the hobby we love so much!!! bprc.me/HorizonHobbyEU - I think this link will work for you, it's an Horizon Hobby EU link (Blade is their brand), when and if you're ready. Thanks for using it, if you do end up buying one. It will help us with any purchase you make from there, after following it. Also, if you think about it - check out some of our OTHER Heli videos - www.BrianPhillipsRC.com - we have a TAB that says sort by TYPE - you might find something even better, for example, the 330S ;) Even better or the Fusion 360 - there's a bunch of options, and we do the WHOLE setup and everything to help you get setup...it's such a pain NOT knowing HOW to do these things the first or second time, when you're getting BACK into the hobby. So much has been changing, so it's almost impossible to just "know" - thanks for being here!

Thank you for your videos on RC helicopters. I am a disabled veteran in Texas, and I am trying to learn to fly one of the most difficult aircraft in the RC world. I appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos. They are very informative and educational. I hope you will continue to produce videos that teach and educate people like me who want to learn how to fly these amazing machines. I would love to own a Raptor helicopter someday. Please keep me informed of any upcoming videos or new products that might help me achieve my goal. Thank you again for all that you do. Respectfully; Andy Disable Vet Texas

Hey Brian, as a heli pilot, let me tell you that you absolutely are one too. That was some smooth confident flying, and it looked like you were doing coordinated turns and staying ahead of the aircraft. I have an Oxy 2, which is basically one of these on steroids in kit form, and I’d let ya fly it anytime!! I think you’re ready to step up to the big leagues, maybe Horizon can send you a Blade 480 fusion kit! Building and setting up heli kits is a fun challenge that I’ve found very rewarding, and you’re definitely there skill-wise! Thanks for another awesome video!

Growing up, we had local crop pilot that we called "Wild Bill" who was a fighter pilot in WWII (corsair) and that man lived up to his name. We have a field with rows that run perpendicular to the road and on the far end is a tree line and on the road side is power lines. He'd come in twice a year and when he'd get to the ends, he'd shift the weight in the plane while he going into a hard stall, and flip the tail 180 degrees to drop in for the the next pass. Every other pass, he'd go UNDER the power lines then pop that stick back going to nearly 70 degrees vertical for the stall turn. He did that right across the road from our lane (1/3 mile long), every single year until he was 84 years old. He retired his bird and was called home less than 6 months later. You don't stop living because you get old, you get old because you stop living.

Hello Brian, I have to say you are a great entertainer for our hobby. Your excitement is always enlightening while sharing so much information. I have learned to trust your judgement on items from Horizon, and after watching this video on the 230S helecopter, I like yourself am a confident RC pilot and drone flyer. I have endulged in helecopters hears ago, but that effort was expensive and difficult. This has all changed now with the driect drives and smart controllers. The flybarless heli's make this whole field of flying much easier to partake in. I have a number of heli's now, but this one just looks like too much fun, so you sold me. Keep up the great work, and maybe I will be lucky enouh to fly with you one day. I know I will watch your reviews. Best regards, Michael Wright
@BrianPhillipsRC2 жыл бұрын
They are super fun, but keep in mind, SAFE makes all the difference. If you can learn to get at the switch fast, the heli will save itself from many-a-mistake...but when you're too slow, it'll remind you why you stopped ;) Just the no BS answer you probably preferred not to hear, but I must say, this and the 180 Infusion, and 330S fly like the same heli! So if you're like me, you MIGHT want to consider the bigger 330S. Batteries are actually pretty reasonable and the thing flies a long time too, but it's easier to see. P.S. For what it's worth, I replied to your comment, but it was eaten up by Starlink...and I can't reply again for a few days and I've yet to figure out why this happens and how to get around it. Sorry for the delay!!! 330S bit.ly/3cuZU2c 230S bit.ly/3yX2vJP 150S bit.ly/3OmmtUb Infusion 180 bit.ly/3v2rsTe

This was fun to watch. Loved the Air Tractor crop-dusting the corn at the end. Yep, we gotta eat: so thank goodness we have advanced, high-tech agriculture. I own a Blade 230s V2, which is the version previous to the one you reviewed. Mine required some tweaking of tail and cyclic gains before it flew well. Initially there was some tail wagging. However, after I was done tweaking the gains, it flew way better than I had expected it would. I am an intermediate / advanced heli pilot, with three scale and several 3d helis in the hangar. Got the Blade 230s so I could have something small enough to fly in my back yard. I wasn't really expecting all that much from it, considering it's got a motorized tail. However, the 230s v2 exceeded my expectations by a wide margin. I really really like mine. Best regards from Brasilia, Brazil.

Excellent! You two are awesome. I am from close to you and always love watching the crop dusters. The pilots use a screen and software to track where they've dusted or not. It looks like he's going over the same spot sometimes. It's like erasing with a small eraser. You have to go over the same spot sometimes to get it all. Also it is wonderful to see you fly helis. Keep at it both of you. Brian, you're too good a pilot to use safe. Inverted maneuvers are coming soon I predict. Night flying helis is so so much fun. Another great review. I actually love the lights. To me, it makes orientation easier. The crop duster...OMG!!! As a long time "full-scale" pilot, I would think flying a turboprop crop duster would be the next best thing to flying a warbird.
@JohnSmith995623 жыл бұрын
In my neck of the woods, they use similar planes to spray for gypsy moths once a year. It's always fun to watch. I guess turboprop engines are pretty reliable. A deadstick landing at that altitude would probably not end well.
@BrianPhillipsRC3 жыл бұрын
Luckily, John Smith - a dead stick landing would be easier on a big corn field or soybean field...it's be a good chance of rolling over, but if you're skilled as these crazy pilots, they could probably put down in my back yard ;)

Also, you might check the forward programming on your controller to see what stability mode is doing with AS3X and SAFE. RTF - Ready to Fly - this one comes with everything you need except for a USB to wall outlet adapter. VS BNF - Bind and Fly Basic - this one comes with only the heli (with receiver and all that) and you have to provide your battery and your DSMX capable Transmitter. RTF is more expensive and BNF is less expensive Hope this helps Eddie!

On your recommendation from a different video of yours, I went a head and purchase the Banggood - Eachine - E130,2.4g,4ch. Great video! The Blade 230s is a good heli but nothing compared to the OMP hobby M2! The FBL on the OMP is 100 times would blade could ever dream of. The stability is incredible! The self level and rescue works 20 times better than blades safe. My channel is mainly helicopters boats my name passion is airplanes as well. You’re doing great keep practicing! I can kind of fly helicopters as well.

@Oni763 жыл бұрын
Before jumping into aerobatics, I'd highly recommend practicing on a flight sim. It's expensive at first (less than a new 230S), but it will save you so much more in the long-run versus crashing. I wouldn't have a still mint 150S and 230S after several flights had I not started in the sim first (and yes, I can now do continual loops, rolls, inverted sustained, etc.). For me at least coming from fixed wing flying, there are several habits I had to break and also program your mind for a different orientation than planes. It's also much easier to lose orientation on a helicopter than a plane as well, especially when inverted, and when you start doing aerobatics and things happen quickly with that nervous energy, it's easy to input too much cyclic or collective or simply add input in the wrong direction. The SAFE mode doesn't teach you proper collective control either, as it works almost like a plane (50% up spins up motor / rotor, 50-100% controls the collective for up/down). And I love the SAFE mode myself when I need a mental break or to save my bacon. The 230S is a super stable helicopter in SAFE, though, and I'm sure you'll enjoy your maiden. Get a big open area to take alleviate any external stress. When taking out of SAFE to other flight modes, focus on hovering first before trying to say fly a pattern. Make sure you keep the helicopter facing away from you to keep orientation in line with your controls / perspective starting out. Lastly, small stick movements make big changes! Good luck and have fun!

Brian, love your channel. I keep learning more about radio set ups, foam repair, and basic trouble shooting with each video. I’m still in the beginner mode. I started with a Mavic Air and a Tello for indoor fun. I watched members of my flying club field fly “fomies”. As a previous hand control gasser flyer many years ago I got hooked. I got a a Sport Cub S2 which succumbed to our constant wind issue. I jumped to an Apprentice 1.5 meter STS and it was more solid, but big to transport. I got a UMX Timber and it fits the bill for small ASTX/Safe and can handle some wind. I’d like to return to the Apprentice and hone my skills. I have a NX6 and would like your recommendations for a radio set up. Ted

Hello Brian, great channel! I follow it from Germany and totally love it. Just from curiosity, as your words about your 15 years old cp heli sounded sooo familar to me: was it the "Esky belt cp" paddle Heli, by any chance? I am asking because it was simply the same experience for me. That thing was not flyable, maximal hovering or doing a 8 until it drifted away in a random direction and crashed. I spent multiple of the price on spare parts and left it in the basement for 12 years. Until this year, when I felt like setting everything clean and properly, with the same result. I was so annoyed I sold everything :-) So I am really looking forward to getting the blade 230 S now and find out how technic has changed over the last decades. My last occasion of getting back to helicopters. If that fails I stick to my fixed wing passion. :-) But it looks kinda easy with the little helpers onboard, I am so curious. Greets from Munich
@BrianPhillipsRC3 жыл бұрын
I had a Blade CP One early in my married life, but I never could get the guts up to fly it more than barely getting off the ground and hovering, but I also had another heli when I was a kid. This heli didn't have a tail rotor at all. I found the NightFlyer video showing it here... kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmnJgJKqa7Gejq8 ...only mine looked like an Apache. I never flew this one. We just recorded our first part of our soon to release Blade 330S, fyi ;) We'll film the flight part of the video asap!

@@BrianPhillipsRC thank you so much for your quick response. Cool machine from koyosho in your provided link :-) and great to hear you are making a vid about the 330S. It's also on my wish list, but not to be frustrated again I think the 230S is totally fine to restart in helis and probably more forgiving when kissing the ground than the carbon fibre 330. The technical limit is probably far away from my skills and I want to train scale maneuvers and flybys in a first step. I am curious if you agree with the horizon hobby stated skill level 2 in the 230S vs. level 3 in the 330S, or if you even suggest it for a first CP. But I assume the rating could be right, the 330 looks rather more of a mature heli. Thanks and keep on rocking! Viele Grüße

I have now bought two of these and both have a very hard pull to the left when flying. Not that easy to fly at all. Horizon asked for both back. The first they just replaced with another one and I got it back today and it’s still pulling hard left after a few minutes of flying. Even hitting the safe button makes it pull to the left hard. Try to do the calibration. Neither one of mine nor the replacement will go into calibration mode with the DXs controller.

Hey Brian, I got one of these as a gift after watching your video. When I plug the battery in the tail motor starts spinning and if I try to pick up the helicopter and move it, it tries to counter correct. The throttle hold is on on the remote. Just curious this isn't normal is it? Thinking I may have to contact hh. Thanks
@BrianPhillipsRC2 жыл бұрын
I don't think you have something right, and you need to be super careful not to get the main rotor spinning! I don't want you to get cut. See about going through my RADIO SETUP on this one and maybe you can get it sorted out. First - See if your Throttle HOLD is working. Get it working if you don't have it working. Once that's done, then you can see what's going on safer.
