"He dodged the bullets like in the Matrix!" No... the Matrix dodged bullets like HIM...
@patrickcromwell7554Күн бұрын
No actually Bullet time was INVENTED FOR The Matrix. So many people misuse the term because they don't actually KNOW what it is. Before the Matrix it was all just CGI special effects. The Matrix's Bullet Time IS NOT CGI (Not completely) it 90% real time camera footage with CGI only in post to clean up the images and add in certain effects. BUT the movements themselves are filmed on practical actually cameras. The CGI version we get now is 100% CGI in that NO ONE is actually DOING the movements. Bullet Time is done with dozens of cameras all set up in advance and each one take a single frame photo very rapidly. One played back the computer can then slow or speed up the scene. For the Matrix the scene is slowed and then spliced INTO the live camera feed rather than have CGI create the whole scene. And just to correct you, The Matrix was always a sweeping 180 or 360 degree pan around. Frost was just a straight on CGI imposed shot. Therefore you are correct when saying he didn't dodge like the Matrix, but wrong when saying they dodged like him. The Matrix was MADE first; Blade was just RELEASED first. Matrix had WAYMORE post production to finish than Blade.

Was about to say before I seen your comment lol it’s a common misconception that people think The Matrix gave birth to Bullet Time when pretty sure it was Blade who did it first HOWEVER pretty sure there is another instance before blade but I might be wrong on that but yes basis is Blade did it before matrix lol

@@XClinicalXInsaneX150 No you are wrong CGI IS NOT Bullet Time. Bullet Time is a Practical Camera effect using dozens of single frame camera shots the compiling them into a an establishing shot. Anything BEFORE the Matrix is CGI ONLY. Bullet Time was invented FOR The Matrix. That's not to say that shots similar, didn't inspire Bullet Time. BUT Bullet Time doesn't actually mean "following bullets on screen." Bullet time means "the speed of movement as fast as bullets." The misconception isn't that is was done BEFORE The Matrix; the misconception is what MOST people THINK bullet time actually IS

Blade is peak 90s in every way. They even did the bullet time thing before The Matrix. In my opinion, Blade 2 is the best of the trilogy. I hope get around to watching that one soon. If I remember correctly, the line about ice-skating uphill was an improv by Snipes. It is an absolutely ridiculous line, and has been made fun of endlessly. But I sort of love how it was included in Deadpool and Wolverine, because despite its ridiculousness, it's part of a character that is a bit ridiculous, and fans embrace him anyway. The effect that Wesley Snipes and Blade had on the movie industry cannot be understated. They laid the foundation by proving comic book characters - and R rated comic book movies at that - could be wildly successful. Blade will always be one of my favorite characters from my childhood. He and Neo are right at home in all of their 90s trench coat and sunglasses glory, and I hope that aesthetic never truly dies.

It's a classic Marvel comic adaption superhero movie with great performances from the entire cast, Wesly nailed it as BLADE, no pun intended. Blade's mom was no longer his mom but, a monster a creature of the night. She was lied to about Blade by Frost, she thought Blade was dead. The reason Bade can defy physics is because he has supernatural abilities, like most vampires do. Blade is a hybrid half human half vampire aka Dhampir. I give BLADE a 10. 😉👍

So many questions that were asked were clearly answered in the movie. "How does he know what his mother looks like he was a baby" Maybe the fact he has been carrying around his mother's drivers license his entire life. Something tells me he would know what she looks like especially since she hasn't aged since then now that she is a vampire. Blade grabs onto a moving train. "Laughs uncontrollably" Burnt dude with a missing hand jumps out of the like the 7th story window goes through the roof of an ambulance breaks the doors open and escapes down an alleyway. "All good here" I don't get the flip flopping. Once you heard Whistler explain to her what he was. All your questions should have been answered. For the most part. Oh and when did just mentioning the word 'sun' suddenly kill a vampire? They have to be in direct sunlight. That is why vampires have always been out at night or in the shadows. just because the sun is lighting up a room doesn't mean they die. They have to be in it's direct path. Thought I do kind of get when Frost was in the city with the kid. Unless it was a specific time of day, maybe the sun was behind buildings, or it was cloudy. However, just because the sun is above the horizon doesn't mean instant death.

Many Vampire Lore's allow for DIRECT Sunlight contact only rule; meaning that vampires can and do function during the day they just avoid direct Sunlight. Such is the case with Joss Whedon's Buffy-verse. If the Sun isn't directly on them they're fine. for the most part. SOME with strong, powerful bloodlines can endure as much as a few minutes even in Direct Sunlight. Frost not ONLY has Sunblock on, but is also under a lot of shade from the trees. This would seem to fall into the direct Sunlight theme.

I think it's implied she didn't care... In classic vampire lore; a human looses his soul when he transforms into a vampire... so the person is 'actually dead'; and his body is empty husk, a servant of darkness, devoid of a heart or a conscience... of course, Blade treats vampirism as scientific phenomenon... except when LITERALLY the souls of the pureblood vampires are summoned in a ritual at the end of the movie to bring back a literall god... ...BUT, even if you ignore the soul as tangent thing that lives within the individuals and all that spiritual stuff... I think the Blade approach is that humans do 'loose their souls' when they transform... in a phsicollogical sense. I mean: The thrist is described as imposible to resist. Is an instinct no vampire can overcome. 'Sooner or later the trhirst allways wins'. Whistler himself wanted to commit suicide because he knew he could not be 'a good vampire'. Sutch thing cannot exist (again, in the second movie we see things are not sutch black and white... Blae falls in love with the chick vampire because vampires can and do in fact love and feel as humans...) My reading is that the procces of hunting humans, killing them to survive... profoundlly traumatizes the vampires. They cannot cope with the person they once where while been forced to regullarly killing to survive. They cope with it by giving into their new nature, dehumanizing themselves and their new lustfull existence... drugs, parties, orgies, literall bloodbaths... they are literall sociopaths devoided of empathy Blades mum sais it herself; she hunt with vampires, was 'adopted' by them... she gave into her new life letting everithing behind. I can see her first months been a literall hell; sicking worried about her abandoned son... but deeplly consumed by thirst, only been able to think about that.... and with a master like Deacon; her mental stabillity most probably crumbled... and only could survive by literally givin up all notion of her past self; including any tie to her baby. Several decades of that I think did not better her condittion. She is literally a husk of herself. Any love she has for Blade is just a distat memory; an eco of a person she no longer is. So; even if you don't take into account the 'soul' in an spirituall manner; I do think that she really is mentally so far gone that you can argue she is no longer the same person... can a person who for 30 or so years has been killing (and eating!) humans in a regular basis (so she may have killed hundreds of people in that time?) have the same morals and feelings as when she was a regular human? I dare say not. I woul also dare to say that Deacon activelly 'encouraged' her to forget about the baby; maybe even lied to her telling the child had died... maybe just until very recentlly she haven't been told he was alive, and was actually Blade...

@@webwreckerzero lol Yeah yeah, I know... everyone raves about #2... Gotta understand, I come from the comic book perspective. I generally love DelToro as much as the next person but, #2 was all style, no substance. Whereas #3 brought in the Nightstalkers, who are important in the comic book line. Don't get me wrong, #2 was a good action flick, but it wasn't really a Blade movie...

I agree that 2 is better, but I still enjoy Trinity quite a bit.

I'm sure someone told you already, but just in case. Wesley was originally going to be the Black Panther, but it was taking too long for it to go into production, so instead, he got Blade.

I love that Blade’s cameo in deadpool and wolverine has brought this movie back to life and to a new generation! It’s hilarious. It’s so late 90’s. It’s amazing.

There is a deleted scene of the original intended form of the Blood God Deacon transforms into. It was basically a giant CGI blood tornado with Deacon's face. Pretty glad they went with the enhanced vampire form

Jesus Christ his "mom" is a vampire now. Her humanity gone and any maternal feelings gone with it. A vampire isn't a person that needs to drink blood... they're supernatural undead creatures born at the moment of whoever they rise from's death. They retain the memories of life but none of the personality or compassion.

Wesley Snipes was perfect in this role. He is a legit martial artist IRL and it shows in the choreography, and every mannerism, smirk, flourish and one-liner just oozes "cool". Only ever been one Blade, only ever gonna be one Blade.
@anoutlawsghost8722Күн бұрын
When Wesley Snipes first read about the character Frost in the script, he describes him as "A MF who's trying to ice skate uphill." They love that line so much that it was added to the movie. And he got to repeat it in D&W :).

I honestly prefer the animalistic growls and snarls over, say, the very human-sounding hisses in _Twilight_ (where, incidentally, the books say they're _supposed_ to sound animalistic). Vampires have always been at least partially bestial; I think it fits.

I really enjoyed your react to this movie, as it is one of my favorites. In the end, when the 12 vampires get Blade's blood dripped on them in the temple, and then hit with the electricity, it releases their vampire souls. That is what climbs out of their mouth and flies around the room. The released souls then fly through Frost, transferring their strength and power into him, transforming him into La Magra.

Blade is a cult classic, im sure alot of fans don't appreciate taking the piss out of everything and cutting the movie down
@Eidlones4 сағат бұрын
Cult classics are generally ignored/not known about/thought of as bad by the general public. Blade is none of those. It's just a 26 yr old action movie.

Some people credit the early 2000s Spider-Man and X-Men with paving the way for the MCU, which is partly true. Their success brought Marvel back from near-bankruptcy, but Blade’s success showed them that there was a new way to interpret their heroes that people really liked. It led to them making those 2000s films, which is something I don’t think they would’ve even attempted if not for the spark that Blade ignited. It helps that Snipes’ charisma carries what could be (and maybe still kinda is) an incredibly cheesy movie. He’s cool, he’s edgy, and he kicks butt…everything we loved in the 90s.

I remember this movie coming out. I saw it in theaters. After years of bad comic book movies, this one was a huge step up in quality. It gave me and my friends hope that a decent comic book movie could be made. We spent so much tiime and money supporting the genre so we could get to where it is today.

Stephen Dorff as Deacon Frost was freakin phenomenal. One of the best "bad guys" in movies. He has this sleekness, and a friendliness, and suave to him. But he's also a viper who can, and will, strike you dead quick if he has a reason.

What is your exposure to vampires? They are undead monsters designed to be human predators. They lack a soul, and have superhuman/psychic powers. They're not just people with extra teeth.

BTW Natalie, I have worked for a homeless resource center for almost a decade. My role is mostly behind the scenes. I just keep the building operating and repair things. However, when I started this role, sox were the most needed item. We are now connected with Bombas and having to turn someone down over socks really seems to be a thing of the past for us. They have been a game changer. I appreciate them so much.
@MjrCoxwell19 сағат бұрын
also remember this is technically a MARVEL movie lol - if you didn't get it- Frost turned his mom while she was pregnant to MAKE blade- so he can be used when he's grown up. his mom was a vampire as soon as she died, so raising a half vamp amongst vamps would be bad- the council would have had them killed. so, she stayed away- plus, evil vamp moms don't care about their kids. sorry.
