Haha, the ending was hilarious. And it showed me how durable this little sucker is. Thanks for the video, I'm getting more confident in my purchase choice.

Great video! I am a bit jealous though. You kept that beast in a nice slow flight and I cannot get mine to fly slow. I am just learning to fly the CP birds and the nano is my first one. It is so fast for me right now even outside. Your video gives me hope that I will control it as good as you one day.

With the DX5 you are limited to the built-in default settings. This includes throttle and pitch curves, dual rates, exponential, and flight modes. With a DX6i you can have many combinations of flight modes (2 total), dual rates (2 on each channel), pitch curves (1 for each flight mode, plus hold mode), and throttle curves (one for each flight mode and a single setting for hold mode). I know that may be hard to understand at the moment, but trust me, a beginner can benefit from that extra stuff.

I usually set my timer for 4 minutes and land before it goes off. That seems to be a safe time - if you go to the end of the battery on these repeatedly, it really hurts the batteries. These small batteries just don't have the durability of the bigger ones. The AS3X board on this one is newer than the one on the mCPX, and it works a little better. The new brushless motor mCPX doesn't have the issues the old one had. I'll have a review of that one coming when I get around to it.

AH awesome I found some on eBay. Thanks heaps :) I know a lot of people say "why would you pay more for batteries when you can get cheap ones from HK" But Hyperions' just last forever if you take care of them, therefore save you money in the long run!

I noticed that to (about the cold and the batteries) and also I think the cold may be a factor for the longevity of the motor. It is possible beside the ”use or abuse” factor (many people seem to actively try to destroy their bird) that some unlucky users just fly in a hot climate. Thanks for the reply! Regards!

They are each best in different situations. The mCPX is nice for lazy flying around the house, since it moves a little slower than the nano. The 130X is a power house - it's good for flipping and rolling and general hammering around outside, and in larger indoor areas. The Nano is great for flying around the house but it's easier to get it moving too fast and run into something. It flips and rolls much better than the mCPX though, so if you like 3D, the Nano is a little better.

Don't worry I understand what you are talking about. I only ask because I already have a dx5e as it was already given to me and I just wanted to see how far one could get with a dx5e.

Well you saw how stable it is in the video. If it's not doing that, then maybe something is wrong with it. Everything else you said sounds normal. However, in order to show off the stability, you have to put it in a stable attitude - if you never get it there, it will hold positions, but it won't seem stable because it will be running all over the room.

Not entirely, you must always use cyclic or you can't keep it moving right. The slower you go, the less cyclic and more rudder you use. If you go fast, you can bank really hard and turn with very little rudder, but if you go slow, you must use more rudder and less bank. If you go slow enough, you start to need forward cyclic in the turns instead of back. Just feel it out, set your radio up right, you'll get it :)

My Nano does seem to be slowing down a bit, but I think that's because I keep flying it in the cold. It's really sensitive about the batteries.

Yeah I love my HD camera, but I had to buy a new computer to edit the videos from it! The plane at the end is a Parkzone Vapor. I think you can only get it in the "Night" version now, but it's just as good plus has lights. I probably won't have time to make a comparison video. I'm working on an Align vs. Clone comparison video. Be sure to subscribe :)

Motor life seems to be kind of random until you look a little closer. I do not know what the issue is, but some people seem to be able to burn up motors really quickly, and other people don't, but it's always the same people. I've had quite a few of these over the years and the only one that really stinks is the old mCPx - mine just doesn't fly right any more. But, I have a UM Extra that is 3 years old and fine, and my old mSR still flies too - the one I got when it first came out.
@jasmine2501
@jasmine2501 11 жыл бұрын
Some people do seem to be able to wear the motor out rather quickly, but I don't know if it's from misuse or a quality problem or what. Some people seem to get normal life from the motor, so I don't know. The 130-X has a more durable motor but is less durable in most other respects. All of these little Blade helicopters are good, and each step up is better performance but reduced durability. That's just the trade-off we have to make in the helicopter world.

Great Video!!! I just got the Nano CPX (RTF Version) for Christmas. My past experience is with the Blade MCX and I was very comfortable with it, but this one is a lot more challenging. The Nano seems to jump off the ground and doesn't ever maintain a stable hover. Also, when I control the rudder (Right control stick) whatever I do sticks (So if I move left it stays that way even when I return the stick to the neutral position). Am I doing something wrong/something wrong? Thanks!!

What is the flight time on the nano? Why do you think it's better than the mcpx? Thank you and I love your slow precision flying. Looks so smooth.
@jasmine2501
@jasmine2501 11 жыл бұрын
Well, I can fly it in about 10mph winds, but I wouldn't suggest doing that on the first flight if you're a beginner :) Flying in wind is about the combination of aircraft and pilot capability. If either is lacking, you won't do very well. The Nano can probably be flown in 15-20mph winds, but that would just be a constant battle and no fun. If you want to fly on windy days, get a 450 at least - even the 300 is tricky in >10mph winds.

Also, when considering the radio you want, you need to consider that it will last many years, possibly 10 or 15 years. It's like a TV or a washing machine - a long term investment. So, saving a small amount of money for the short term just isn't worth it. Spend as much as you possibly can on your radio and get the best one you can afford, reducing your chances of having a quality problem or needing more capability and having to buy a new radio.
@jasmine2501
@jasmine2501 12 жыл бұрын
Flying slow and smooth is way harder than flying fast. Fast is just about maintaining orientation, but slow is about precision. Work on your precision - make sure to use expo in your radio. Fiddle with it until you find something you like - not everyone likes the same expo, but start with 30%. On the rudder, set it so you can do slow piros at a constant speed, taking 5-10 seconds to come all the way around. It's your bird - feel it out and set it up how YOU like it.

Set it up with some expo, and use a determined but light touch. It takes practice, try flying faster first. Learn your nose in hovering too. You'll get it eventually.

Hold. The motor crapped out in 3 days. I was holding the heil upside down and giving it negative pitch. I shaked the heli very very lightly and I heard a pop sound come from the motor. Me shaking it doesn't compare to pitch pumps so idk why it failed. My msr x is still flying like a champ after a year of use still stock still same parts out of the box. My ncpx paper weight in 3 days

With the fast-forward blades on both the nano and mcpx, would it be as faster, faster, or slower for forward flight speed?
@jasmine2501
@jasmine2501 11 жыл бұрын
The blades don't really change the speed of the thing, they affect the lever arm of the blade. A heavier blade will resist movement, so it feels smoother.

@jasmine2501
@jasmine2501 10 жыл бұрын
No it would probably be fine, just keep in mind the thing CAN flip all the way over, so the control method is a little different. If you can fly the NanoQX in agile mode, you'll be fine. The Nano CP is fairly durable if you crash. I crashed it a few times while making the video actually.

Yeah it's not hard to fly. I don't know about the price, it depends on what radio you get. The little "controller" style radio isn't so good, but I don't think it works with this helicopter, so you must be getting a DX6 or something?
@oriongrungemanic8952

I bought a nano cpx, spooled it up in normal mode then hoped to stunt mode to reduse motor strain. I crashed 3 times out of 30 flights and hit the throttle kill everytime. On day 3 the motor burned out :(((, got a new motor only to discover the main board crapped out. I put 140 into this bird and on day 3 its a paper weight. I'm gonna get it flying again but if the motor and board crap out SOON real SOON then I'm done with this heli. It flies great so stable and smooth but people are reporting problems with motor and main board. I should've bought a 130x or align 250. I will update my comments about the nano when my new board arrives in a few days. I hope and pray that it doesn't crap out in a few days or weeks.
@jasmine2501
@jasmine2501 11 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is true - crashing WILL break the board. It will cause failures that can't be fixed and usually can't even be located. The boards are designed to handle the stresses of flying and they do pretty well with that - just ask any non-crasher like myself who has been flying these for a long time. We don't have problems with the boards OR the motors. Due to increased power output, you will not see any improvement of durability in the 130X, but I assure you it is more than up to the challenge of flying. I've been flying my 130X since it came out and I've not needed to replace anything but the blades - and that was just because I didn't like the stock blades. This is just the way it is with helicopters, and Blade has done a nice job with these little micros - they are quite a bit more durable than they should be, and they do have features designed to reduce damage to the motors and such, but it's a helicopter - crashing it will kill it, and there's nothing you can do about that except stop running into stuff.

@jasmine2501

patrick sanderson It is nice, but it's a little odd - the 130X is a better balance of power and control. The mCPX BL is over-powered. I may eventually do a review, but it's not a very popular product and I expect it to be discontinued or upgraded soon.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with it, but you might just need to adjust it a little bit. Look on KZbin for setup videos where you can learn how to set it up properly. Some of them just aren't adjusted correctly from the factory. Also make sure your radio is set up properly - that is a major cause of the helicopter flipping to the side on take off. If the radio is set up wrong, it thinks you actually want to do that, so make sure you get the "computer/non-computer" radio setting correct during binding. Also, make sure you initialize it correctly, and don't touch the sticks until it's off the ground. Also check for broken servos and stuff - if you have a servo not working or something, get a new one for free. There's a pretty good warranty on these - Blade will help you, they have good service - known for some of the best service in the industry. Good luck!

There should be a helicopter club there. I know a lot of people in England and Scotland, and Ireland, who all fly helicopters, but I don't know where Dorridge is. How am I supposed to answer your question in the first place? All you told me is what radio you have, and that you have two Nano helicopters. I don't know if you're controlling it wrong, if the helicopter is broken, if the radio is broken, if something is out of adjustment, or if you just need practice. Helicopters are very difficult to fly and maintain - don't give up!

Lol it was a sort of funny, sweet video though. I want that 200 SR X I just can't afford it yet. I am a beginner I'm getting used to flying an Ares Exera 130 CX. When I get it dialed in I want to begin with a fixed pitch helicopter. I need a flight simulator as well so I can get more coordinated with the controller during flight. Do flips and maneuvering. It was fun, keep making vids guys.

I have a 200SRX, just never finished the video for it. It flies really well and I don't think you would need a simulator. It flies a lot like a quadcopter, with the self-leveling turned on. It's very easy to fly and I think it's a legitimate step towards flying a full-house machine.
