Berserk, Hellsing and blade of the immortal are considered seinen which are targeted towards young to older adult males.Shonen would be the more kid stuff dragon ball, one piece etc.

Shonen isn't for kids, its just not for adults either. Shonens can still get pretty dark eg: hunter x hunter. I guess shonen is for teens and up but seinen is for adults and uo

When it comes to most long running series it takes a couple of volumes for the creator to really hit his stride in the story.

If you’re interested in more seinen (adult) manga, I HIGHLY recommend ‘Vagabond’ by takehiko inoue. It’s another samurai manga based on the real life story of Miyamoto Musashi (a real rouge samurai who is said to never have lost a duel). It’s similar to berserk but the artwork is known as THE BEST artwork in ALL of manga. Really can’t recommend it enough!

Love the black and white. I also love the lack of narration and exposition because it is easier to stay in the moment without the need to adjust your perspective. Great review, Gem. Never compare stuff to Berserk 😆

Battle Angele Alita is another 10/10 Manga. It is god tiered. Same level as Berserk but very different. It starts out slow and on a small scale but by the 2nd arc it is epic. Its also why they made a movie out of it the initial part ( which doesnt do it justice ). I couldn't recommend it enough provided that you stick with it. Just like Berserk the initial Volume will pale in comparison to what comes later.

@@GemMintCollectibles yeah its great. The 1st part is just called Battle Angel Alita. Part 2 has the subtitle "The Last Order". Part 3 is this still ongoing prequel series with the subtitle "Mars Chronicles". Hope that clears up the confusion when you google them. Also the hollywood movie doesn't even cover the entirety of Part 1 so you'll still have a LOT of content thats unseen even if you have watched the movie.
