Blade of the Immortal is a fantastic series. One of the few that feels like a long, expansive journey. Seriously, there is so much that happens throughout the course of the manga and almost all the characters are very likable and get satisfying, realistic conclusions. The character designs, weaponry, artwork, it's all amazing. If anyone loves to sit down and get cozy with a long, beautiful samurai series, Blade of the Immortal and Vagabond are two that I highly recommend.

But to get serious now: SPOILER ALERT, DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE NEW TO BLADE OF THE IMMORTAL OR YOU HAVEN’T COMPLETED IT I think “The Prison” arc is a masterpiece on its own. The drama in this part of the story is at its peak and the consequences of what happens here lead to the outstanding finale of this manga . The Isaku and Doa storyline is tear jerking , especially the scene where she silently holds his lifeless (cough cough not so lifeless though) body . The finale is one of the most brilliant I’ve ever read and it can be summed up with one of the chapters name: Beyond Good and Evil. I’m also glad Rin and Manji split up and lived apart , it makes sense as their journey was over and Manji even hints that his memory fades away with time and his adventure with Rin was just his first one as he’s about to start a new one.

What I love the Most about B lade of the immortal is that Manji isn't even the best fighter when you compare him to his adversaries. A lot of his wins aren't even from skill. It's refreshing to have a protagonist who doesn't get a power up or learns a new unbeatable move. Like what makes even though he's immortal.. the guys he face are so bad ass you wonder how tf is he even going to survive this. Like how do you make someone immortal and you still worry about their well being in a story. That's good ass writing.

Dude right?? Like at first it kinda of bother me because i was so used to the main character being the best swordsman (like Itto Ogami, Gabimaru of Hells Paradise, or learning to be the best like Takezo) so im like yo this guy is getting is ass whopped every time but then i understood how the creator was using his "immortality" (like the fight with the huge dutch dude, holy shit) and it was awesome. It was such a great manga, mos def a masterpiece. What surprises me it how is it not more well known....well maybe thats not word im looking for, how it is not ALWAYS recommended and is up there with the Berserks and Vagabonds??
@mrmanjumac34542 жыл бұрын
I honestly even worried MORE for him bc of his immortality. If he loses, he'll get tortured and dismembered over and over again for all time lol it definitely added lots of tension Especially when it comes to characters like Shira, super nice guy btw. Not at all one of the biggest scumbags who we love to hate in all of fiction

Best manga I've ever read. An engaging cast of characters, phenomenal art, fantastic use of flow during fight scenes and the single best arc I've seen in manga (i.e. Winter War Arc). Blade of the Immortal is a goddamn masterpiece, and it has been my #1 for nearly a decade.

Blade of the immortal is a masterpiece with a bad ending and that pissed me off so hard, let me break it down From chapter 1-100 there is no question about it the best samurai work out there "A MASTERPIECE" after that let's be honest it became mediocre. After the last fight manji leaves without saying anything after all the histoty between them she almost killed herself to save him i don't know what the writer mr samura mean by that but as a reader i call that bad writing. After 90 years chapter is just there to make you feel angry she told him i love you through her grand grand daughter wow nice what a great ending lmao. Now let's talk about giichi that character was berserk level of writing i loved it. For sure one of the best written characters of all time. In the other hand shira writing was so fu#$#d up i liked it that scene when he talked about why he k#ll when he ra#e them was crazy.

@@zSenzy Manji's was always true to himself and never changed. And Rin tries to respect that. He wasn't being a hermit, leaving all alone before they met and turning away those like Rin. Not even capable of enjoying a sake and a festival. He's a misanthrope and he only helped her to atone for her sister and get some hard-core action while he's at it.

I just finished reading this manga and man it is a masterpiece. Like after reading for years the Berserk, Vagabond, fuck i wanted to read to masterpiece manga that was actually finished. So I read Hell's Paradise, its good but not masterpiece material (specially the ending arc.....still pretty fun though, great cha, great fights) but Blade, holy shit was that a satisfying ending and story in general. Really recommend it.

I will say the deluxe editions are fantastic. I personally like the covers, they have a red ribbon for a bookmark too. The pages are huge, and better quality. The binding is stitched with an eye, 10/10 much better than paperbacks.

I read that the series is getting a "deluxe edition" omnibus hardcover re-release (just like Berserk and eventually Hellsing). Does anybody know if it will be flipped left-right, or right-left? The reason I ask, is because if the hardcover is not right to left, I'll just buy the current omnibus editions.

I was also on the fence about watching it because I thought the fast pacing would ruin it but the adaptation is really great especially in the doctor arc and the final arc. Not what you would normally see in seinen/historical anime. If you already read the manga at least check out one episode from the second part (13-24) you'll see what I mean
