Yeah, it sounded like cheap Blaxploitation music. I figure they had to fill it with something. Maybe Vangelis hadn't finished their sound track, or these producers didn't have the rights to use it.

It's MASTERPIECE by THE TEMPTATIONS in their self-titled album of 1973 produced by the great Norman Whitfield (who gaves us CARWASH soundtrack and other great funky stuff) and featuring the wah-wah guitar of "Wah Wah" Watson. It's strange they use this tune for this… But, it's great funky music with lots of groove and orchestra !

During the last minute, Ridley Scott suggests a future where enormous corporations could eventually move into both bioengineering (Replicants) and space mining. Not only are we nearly there, but this also is an early sign that he intended a mild connection between Tyrell and the Weyland Corporation seen in Prometheus and Alien. The connection was also made in the bonus materials of the 2012 Prometheus BD release.

Shout out to the Little Blade Runners! You fans rule! Thanks to Ridley Scott, the Master, who cranked out this great film among which there is no equal, not even his own films which, sadly, have declined in story quality but hopefully he'll be better with any new stuff he has left in his magician's hat. He is in his late 70s so let's enjoy him while we can. The Blade Runner kicks ass worldwide! We as fans are proud to carry the torch once Ridley and Harrison Ford disappear into the next world. It's up to us to hold onto what I still feel is the underlying message of Blade Runner : to cherish life, to enjoy it while you can, as we only have a limited time to us, and in that time, let's be heroes to others. Are you inspired to do what's right? That's why we honor movie heroes, even when they fall, we retain what we learn from them. This is the future once foretold in the original 1982 film. Let's fight for it! We are the heroes! We are the Blade Runners! God bless and enjoy!

The greatest movie ever made, of any genre! I loved this shot film, and I loved seeing stuff apparently left out (the talk with Taffy at the bar is longer than the one I remember in the film). Also interestig how many of the extras' costumes looked like the British New Wave/Synthpop fashion then being worn by musicians and they fans at the time. Thank you for posting this!

I'm shocked at the attention to detail put in to things you and I would never see, especially on film in 1982- digital video has made it possible to get far sharper images than they ever thought possible, yet they still took the time to make the parking meters legit with tiny details, or tiny furniture in windows of buildings in the background of a flying vehicle in rain!! Even just typing that made me shocked all over again. That is dedication.

This was great! I'd never seen this before. On a funny note, it's amazing how important sound/music is to a film. If BR had a groovy disco score like this, clearly the tone would be drastically different than the atmospheric multilayered sounds of Vangelis. Thank goodness Ridley chose Vangelis! Cheers from Tokyo (Blade Runner's sister city)

It's stunning how accurate they could be and how incorrect they could be when you look at the "BR Curse" (the idea that any corporation shown in the film, except for Coca-Cola was doomed). This is one of the reasons I really appreciated Villeneuve's decision to make 2049 an alternate future based on 2019 shown in BR rather than our actual 2019.

I wonder how outrageous they thought those street parking rates were, at 5:40. There were years in the 1970s where annual inflation exceeded 10%, so they probably didn’t seem outlandish even at the time. These days, as an uninformed viewer, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that it cost $12 US to park for an hour in downtown Los Angeles.
