It's amazing how perfectly he captured the aspect of new love that is rarely talked about: sadness. Usually that comes at the end of a relationship. Instead of conveying joyful discovery, or the rush of passion, as is typical, the melancholy sax blows wistful notes, like it's mourning. Which reminds the listener that love isn't just about warm tummies, but surrender. Surrender of individuality, and acceptance of the inherent vulnerability. Enemies can hurt you, but only someone you love can consume you utterly.

This movie made me fall for Sean Young big time and for Vangeli’s music also. I grew up listening with my dad to Vangelis amongst other stuff. I love my dad. I remember once he got me to set up an audio tape recorder to capture the main theme from Starman at the end. My dad is the reason I love sci-fi and the reason my musical taste is so diverse. My dad’s still alive n kicking so no worries there but no harm in telling him I love him. I love you dad. Thank you for giving me good taste❤

this is indeed a beautiful piece of music by the late-lamented Vangelis. It's no surprise that over 5 million people have listened to it, but no-one that I can see in here has yet mentioned that it was performed by the brilliant saxophonist, Dick Morrissey, the barn-storming horn player from London, a player of enormous talent, who died tragically young from cancer at the age of 60. A truly wonderful man who is greatly missed, his legacy lives on, not only in this heart-rending track, but also in many and various recordings, most recently with the Morrissey-Mullen band. I would urge anyone moved by this recording to check out the great Dick Morrissey's other work. You won't be disappointed.

Villeneuve said that he didn't wanted to recreate the first film (which is his favourite film) but he wanted to do his own spin on the universe. Like a lot of his other films (especially Sicario and Polytechnique) there is atmosphere but it's cold and inhuman unlike Scott's Blade Runner which is dark but it's not cold it's trying to give humanity to a world where they doon't really know what's humanity.

De todas as personagens femininas dos anos 80 ( e não são poucas) a Rachel é a mais doce, sensível, e forte da cultura pop.

First saw this between my first and second years of college, nearly ten years ago. One of my favorite films of all time, I'm hoping they'll have a showing at a theater near me sometime soon. To see it on the big screen would be amazing.

science fiction was always my first love. Above all films. And then you add blade runners. Sean Young as a android being. I could live the rest of my life with this kind of relationship and reality.

I saw things you wouldn't imagine. Attack ships on fire off Orion. I saw cosmic-ray glow in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain. Time to die. R.I.P Rutger Hauer :(

I could even describe to you the emotions that run through me listening to this music, a strange mixture of nostalgia for a lost love, idealized romanticism, and such sweet loneliness. Rest in peace Vangelis. Thank you.

Dude, I've been looking for this video for a couple of years. It is perfect. It captures the melancholy and sadness in the movie.

The mix of sax and synthesiser gives that ethereal vizualization of what happens inside the replicant, the tough and worn at the same time, when it experiences love, the bond of humane and artificial. Vangelis is definitely genious.

+++ I saw this movie in Cinema 1982. Its SO AMAZING. + Sean Young looks a Little bit like the YOUNG Demi Moore. Demi , in this times was THE CUTEST GIRL of the Planet. Sean Young unfortunally was A BEAUTY - but bad Actress. But on the movie Bladerunner she is really A DREAM ! ********************************************************** The SOUNDTRACK from the Greece Synthie Musician VANGELIS is absiout UNIQUE till today and the Sax LOVE THEME is in my head forever. Waited 35 Years fot PART 2 - Bladerunner 2049. - The RETURN of Rachel ( her CLONE ) and her Termination by LUV - was the most horrible I ever saw. - But also BLADERUNNER 2049 has an OPEN END - And I hope that the story CONTINUES . NIANDER WALLACE is Still ALIVE - Also Officer K / Joe. - And Joe shure wants Payback for the Termination of JOI - and he has NUTHING LEFT TO LOSE ..... +++ Bladerunner Part 3 - is A MUST ! ************************************

This song brought me and my wife’s best friend together. We both had very tumultuous marriages. This song was playing when I noticed her weeping in my backyard. I went out to comfort her and ask her to come in from out of the rain. It was a very hot and cruel summer. She was an old fashioned woman. Very soft and very timid. We are currently in a very passionate love affair that’s lasted over 10 years. Meeting up every chance we can in the rain.

Have seen some epic movies in my lifetime. This was by any doubt one of them.Brings me straight back to the 80's. Was barely 18 years when I saw that movie for the first time. Somehow how strange it may be it always felt like I was part of that movie. I feel so unbelievable lucky & privileged, that I was part of that era. Some memories last a lifetime. This was and still is and always will be one of them. Thank you so much for those great memorable moments. RIP Rutger Hauer
