I remember seeing this awesome movie at a huge theater in Colorado Springs. It was stadium seating and a huge classic screen (open/close curtains, etc). "Blade Runner" was (and still is) highly regarded by critics and fans, alike. It wasn't too well received upon release by many, yet it has inspired and influenced pretty much every sci-fi film-maker ever since!

I was just thinking to myself, "this sounds great.....but, watch at home on a really nice shiny new large tv, surround sound etc on my own with no rustling, munching, coughing and talking or see on a larger screen with all of that stuff going on..." sadly the home experience is just better these days. When you factor in your seating position and distance from the screen in reality it's not even any bigger at the theatre. Add to that the expense. On the other hand, a rare opportunity I guess.

Had the opportunity to see the new DCP on the big screen at a film festival last month, and the new details I noticed were a source of constant delight. Scott's attention to detail at the smallest scale is nearly fractal in its density. They did a really great job. This isn't just a blu-ray transfer. It looks like they scanned the cleaned and remastered original. See this in the theatre!!

As I understand it, the unicorn dream that Deckard has and the origami unicorn are connected in that, Gaff the cop who left the origami wanted Deckard to know that he had seen his dream, because like the photos Rachael had and the spider story Deckard knew about her memory they were actually someone else's.

I'm rather proud to have been a part of making this film. Had no idea at the time that it would become what it is; my own 'all time favorite' included. Gotta admit, though, to having mixed feelings about a sequel; even with Ford's endorsement of the script. Seems a bit sacrilegious, like a sequel to Gone With The Wind. But perhaps I'm being too sanctimonious. After all; it's only a movie.

Deckard is most likely an older replicant built before they implemented the four year life span and he developed his own emotional response to Rachel. Makes so much more sense for a replicant to to develop feelings for another replicant, than a human cop to fall in love with a "Machine" So many more little hints in the film. Why does Bryant tell Deckard "Your not cop your little people" What does he mean by little people? Rachel didn't know she was a replicant maybe Deck doesn't know hes one either. Maybe by the end of the film Roy Batty figured out he was one so that's why he saves him from falling off the roof? Why is Deck basically the only Bladerunner in the film and gets little to no help on the case? Holden didn't do much before he was shot and all Gaff did was hang around. Why would they send one human cop to retire four dangerous replicants when they could send one expendable replicant to do the dirty work and not risk a human cops life. Convenient, so then Deck is most likely the only Bladerunner because replicants are expensive so the police department only has one..which is Deckard.
@anonymousxaela7618 жыл бұрын
Deck isn't the only Bladerunner though, Bladerunners are entire subsection of the police department that specialize in putting down runaway replicants.
