For all the editing flaws in the original release, Blade Runner remains a perfect film. I really believe that when it came out in 1982 the audience just wasn't ready for it. I had the pleasure of meeting Rutger Hauer in Venice Beach in 2002. I was stunned. Seeing celebrities in Venice Beach was normal, but seeing him was awesome. I held the door for him as he was leaving and he smile. I said "All those moments will be lost." He patted me on the shoulder and did the Roy smile and said "Like tears... in rain." Well it may be lost one day but until then, that will be with me always.

To everyone out there who has posted on this video - Like all of you, I am a ‘die hard’ fan of the original Blade Runner! Like many of you, back in 1982, I watched a film that was considered a ‘box office bomb’ but thrilled me and made me think LONG after I left the theater.. I was 15 years old at the time.. My Uncle John took me to see it so I could ‘get in the theater’.. And the movie has haunted me since then.. Over the years, I have purchased and watched every incarnation of the original, from the original cut to the director’s cut to the DVD collector’s edition with several versions of the film in a really cool case!!! And, like all of you, I have memorized all the timeless quotes from this incredible film, from Rutger Hauer’s amazing words to the quick but powerful comments by Edward James Olmos and Sean Young and Brion James and Willaim Sanderson and Joe Turkel and even M. Emmet Walsh.. The spoken words - even a few - were so powerful that they added such layering to this incredible film to truly make it one for the ages!!! Funny, isn’t it? That a ‘box office disappointment’ in 1982 is now considered one of the greatest science fiction films ever made?? I’m not gloating here, but it IS nice to know that a ‘nerd’ in 1982 was not wrong!!! LOL… Time has gone by. We have all gotten older.. But I must say this.. While I consider the original Blade Runner to be a perfect movie, I have also hoped and prayed over the years for a sequel.. So many stories over the years! All I hoped for was a sequel that would be worthy as a sequel to the original.. And, in my humble opinion, after 34 years or so, I got it.. After almost 3 ½ decades, Denis Villeneuve gave us Blade Runner 2049.. A labor of love from this amazing director.. A beautiful tribute to the original that also broke some new ground - and presented many ‘new questions’ to think about!! That being said, I am really hoping that this NEW take on the original movie is real!!! The clip is simply amazing!! Sorry for the long post here, but we all see news every day about ‘new’ Blade Runner projects, from Amazon films to whatever.. And I worry about it - whatever studio or corporation greenlights a new project.. Will they GET IT RIGHT?? Will they continue the magic?? Or just fuck it up for some quick profit?? The ’universe’ that the original Blade Runner opened up deserves the very best if that universe is to be explored further.. Thank you very much for your time!

Same. 13, Sydney. Theatre virtually empty. Mind. BLOWN. Raised in a somewhat 'bohemian' household. Cultural emphasis, lots of reading and music. Precocious and introspective. Blade Runner was a perfect film for those burgeoning steps into adolescence and a wider world.

This hit far more emotionally than I was expecting. It opened a memory to a much younger me sitting almost alone in a theatre in 1982 knowing that I was watching a culture touch-stone, it just that everyone else wasn't seeing and feeling it yet. I'm so looking forward to this expansion on what I already believe one of the best examples of the synergy of all the crafts people to make great art.
@huntsidway4 ай бұрын
That's exactly what it was like, wasn't it? I must have seen it ten times in the theater in '82. I bought the soundtrack done by the American Orchestra based on Vangelis' music, and played it at night when driving. There was a huge array of four vertical TV broadcast antennae out near where I lived in the country, east of Louisville KY. At night it looked like a giant blinking cube from a distance, and it was all like some wild high-tech sign of a dystopian future unfolding right before my eyes...

When I was 10, the Tears on the Rain quote was the most profound thing I ever heard. Now at age 49, Gaff's last words hit hard. All the people I respected and idolized are fading away. 'It's too bad she won't live! But then again, who does?'

And in a deleted/edited scene, it was Gaff who gives the most credence to the theory that Deckert is a replicant by saying, “But are you sure you are a man?”, etc. When I first saw this film as a young lad, and being the only one at the time that I was aware of who knew who Philip K. Dick was, when his name came up on the screen in the opening credits I burst out in spontaneous clapping and cheering. I looked around the crowded theater to see everybody staring at me. Embarrassed at the time I shrunk so low in my seat I could hardly see the screen. Now as an old fat fart I am not ashamed. A legendary film.

White Dragon... a living legend, not so much for its content but for its unparalleled ability to create suspense worthy of an epic saga. The long-awaited video was supposed to drop by the end of November, and yet here we are in December, with fans holding their breath, almost ready to breathe fire themselves just to animate this mythical creature. Who knows, maybe the real plot twist will be the announcement of the legendary 'Version 6.0', complete with a 4D trailer, Dolby Atmos, and... another six-month wait! In the meantime, someone might suggest adding an infinite countdown to the official website, so at least we know it’s never too late to hope. 😂 But perhaps the Dragon is just gathering power for the grand finale... or still trying to remember where he's put the USB with the video.

I saw the original in an almost empty theater with my brother. some woman brought a small child with her and when Pris went into her violent spasms the kid started bawling loudly and the woman ushered the now-traumatized kid out of the theater while we smirked in the darkness. Years later now as a dad with two grown sons I can appreciate how scary that must have been for that kid but at the time it felt like the film had did it's job.
