Blade and soul 2... I initially had no intention of covering this game knowing that it's a mobile/PC cross platform MMO however after seeing some Gameplay of it from Stepharu's channel It looked a lot better than I expected visually and the UI looks more PC than mobile.
Something I've noticed over the past year is that we are seeing a lot more MMOs that're trying to blur the lines between mobile and PC, others that come to mind are Mir4, Odin Valhalla Rising, V4, Genshin Impact and Albion Online.
Personally I don't play any mobile MMOs but I'm open to it if a really good one comes along, perhaps Blade & Soul 2 can be that game?
What do you think about Blade & Soul 2? is this a cross platform mobile MMORPG that you'd actually want to play or are you frustrate that it looks great visually but the gameplay is hindered by mobile controls?

Plus most of these games do the Afk = auto-path with no way to turn them off Which is dumb. This just feels like it's made for rich infants..it had potential but the bad ui, auto and the p2g stuff is just hard to overlook.

Bless Unleashed has a rather forgiving upgrading system. When the process fails, your weapon becomes damaged until you repair it with the repair kits instead of completely losing the weapon.

I feel like games like this would do SO well if they didn't have "auto gameplay" where the game just plays itself for you. The graphics are incredible, the UI is incredible, the effort put into cutscenes looks great, animations look decent. It all means very little when the game literally plays itself for you though. Hopefully future MMOs aren't so heavy on the "auto gameplay" stuff.

@Classic yes there is. Auto play ruins the entire experience. If you want to watch a movie, then auto play is great. If you want to actually play a game, it's terrible since most of the game is played for you. Also having an auto play toggle option isn't a good option either. If you don't want auto play you are at such a disadvantage if you manually grind. You are literally wasting your time when you don't have to, and you'll know it.

Well I played Blade and Soul PC some days ago when UE4 got launched the sadly the story and lore and the combat are the only good things about the game , once I was done with the the story I uninstalled it again now I will just wait for more story probably next year I come back to it but at least Blade and Soul 1 it’s still better than Blade and Soul 2

@@naunau311 Yeah, its what drove me to quit. Back in Skybreak Spire times I was one of the first who got their Raven Weapon. Around the release of the 3rd raid I had to take a break for a while and was just completely unable to catch up without paying and decided to stay away from the game.

For us PvP players what killed it was them completely reworking the skills and changing the classes to their core after they had fired the balancing team and hired a new one. I agree. Optimization and some other issues ended my time in BnS quite early but I enjoyed the bit of story I experienced. I'm a big fan of story driven games and BnS imho had a unique one compared to some other MMOs but this...feels super bland and generic.

it's not the future, it's now. i don't know what it's like on NA and KR servers, but on the JP server they're charging 50$ for a single gem right now. ONE GEM. out of SIX. and they're not even the strongest level; you can even upgrade them if you buy 3 of any kind(for a sweet 150$ a pop). just incredible. that's bns1, but it's the same company, so don't be surprised it they do the same shit.

Everything is upscaled so much, imagine playing on a higher res monitor and that quest list took up 25% of the screen, also action UI on the right side of the screen is super intrusive It is one of the best in terms of mobile MMO UIs but that's only the case if it's on mobile. On PC, this UI is terrible and is there no way to make separate UI for separate platforms?

what do you mean? mobile mmos in asia / korea are the most played games in those regions. Lineage 2M made 2x more revenue than league of legends (the most popular pc Game in korea) and has a shit ton of players. They have in total ~170 Servers to choose from and all of them are either highly crowded or overfilled. BnS2 and Aion2 will change the gaming market. Its just europeans who are stubborn and dont wanna play mobile games (for whatever reason). VR and Mobile Gaming is the future anyway, pc games will die out slowly

When you're catering to both mobile and PC + other platforms, your game will be bottlenecked by mobile designs and systems. So that's why the content and game systems are really casual friendly and not insane. this game is in the area of genshin impact imo. WARNING: this game is prolly very predatorial like most mobile games (they create a problem and sell you the solution)

Two questions come to mind: 1) Why call this "Blade & Soul 2" when it clearly has none of the deep combos and action that made combat so iconic in the original game? Plus the art style looks like it comes from the Maple Story universe more than BnS. Why not just make it a new IP? 2) Who exactly is the target audience of this obsessive push to make everything for mobile these days? Is there like this massive multi-billion population of hopelessly addicted slave kids somewhere I'm not seeing? Everyone I talk to HATES these overly monetized shallow addiction baiting games, and literally every single one is the same now. Who actually plays one of these type of games and says to themselves "wow that was great, I can't wait for another one of those to come out!" I just recently got into the original Blade & Soul and have been loving the action combat there. Combos are deep but not overly complicated like BDO can be (plus it doesn't shove non-optional PVP in your face), with well designed classes and a story that steps your through all the essentials while maintaining a sense of humor and identity. I like the eastern wuxia theme a lot more than recent western offerings like the auto-generated New World. Seeing this is the future sequel to BnS I am really sad. I will just enjoy my time with the original now that it just received the anticipated Unreal Engine 4 update on the English client and pretend that there IS no BnS 2 on the horizon. Maybe it will help me appreciate it even more. P.S. I really enjoy your videos.

Same, I was like "woah an improved BNS great" until i saw it... It looks like a completely different game (except the annoying lyns) and tbh it looks way way worse. The issue of BNS1 was (is) the heavily p2w aspect and the not actual rewarding pvp/faction combat, that made the game an eternal PVE grind with 0% chance to reach the gear a paying whale can have. Other than that I loved the game and I wasted lots of hours since day one release (and everytime queueing for an eternity), but well, even a few weeks back I came back to it and it had still the exact same issue. 0 pvp/faction action or interest (in EU the one faction is completely dead), daily grind of the same boring dungeons, watching your gear worth shit since you didnt pay with cash. In top of that you encounter the same people every day, feels like we are 100 actual persons in the game, with multiple alts to farm everytime. Damn i miss the old days and the old mmos

i somewhat agree with you... but i also have to disagree ... what kind of pay to win game is it a game that only allow to reach max gear trough bid in a raid? lets get real... its a free to play game ... somehow, they have to kee the game alive ... they have to pay the employee ... developers ... servers and so on ... So yes ... the OF COURSE is some stuff that you got to pay for ... and yes .. you can pay to buy some extra materials ... but at the same time ... the game DOES NOT ALLOW to get to endgame gear trough paying ...but only by clearing the actual raids and bid on the drops ... and ... raids in blade and soul are no joke ... the only real issue of blade and soul ... id say its comunty crying for everything ... secondly there is the lack of alternative entertainment... this is what i would work on ... housing ... mini games and so on

@@paul_r3482 well have you played the game long enough? You will reach a gear barrier (around 2500AP) that you cant overcome without paying (and ofc pay for premium). Gems and pet gems are impossible to grind (you get some inferior for free and the upgrades are actually impossible), your account has only 2 slots for characters without paying (and you cant play without many characters to grind dailies and weeklies), end game content requires high AP to be able to bid on drops as you say, and even if you manage to get a party to accept you with 2500AP, they will outbid you 9/10 times because gold isnt an issue for them, but it is for you. Also there is no chance you can make it to any pvp element with such gear since the only semi-active pvp of the game (battlefields) is full of whales of 3k-4k AP and no matter how good you are or your party can synergize you just cant beat them, simple math. So yeah. i dont mind the p2w element but i do mind that there is no alternative to compete with it. If i could grind my way up to 3k AP+ I would be fine since I can play a lot of hours and make it up for the money I dont spend, but that's not an option. At 2500AP you will spend EVERYTHING you have obtained every week to upgrade yourself 0.01%, and after a few weeks you will realize that it just not worth it.

Blade and Soul I - Great combat, combo intensive, action-packed. Bladea and Soul II - Auto-combat Game can be as pretty as it wants to be, but if the core of the game is shit, then it's still shit. Still remember the good times when BaS released in the west for the first time and wasn't streamlined to force everyone into late-game like it is today. BaS II could have been something great and we got this instead.

The auto play feature is a detractor however I wonder if there is an option to turn combat into a more tactile option. One game that did this, though not an MMO is Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii which had auto combat with skills but let you opt to be able to attack on press.

I wish auto-combat games uses FF12's system. You gotta set the A.I. options right so that they will self-sustained and can engage long fight (like Yiazmat fight that can last for many hours).

This looks pretty, but the upgrading system where you can lose your items is absolute garbage and super predatory. As Peon mentioned, they'll probably cash shop something so that doesn't happen. EDIT: That was the part I hated most about BDO. What's the point of trying to upgrade? It's seriously weak game design.

I watch peon videos for peon. But man, why would you ever ask a questio is it worth playing for a game that you can't even have on english. Most of us don't understand the language that the game is on. It being a mobile style game aside, I doubt there was anyone who didn't have an answer if it's worth playing as soon as they found out they can't have it in english. Man, make content about other stuff. It doesn't have to be mmorpgs if you don't have a decent pool of newer releases. I for one, would watch if you made a video about any singleplayer game for instance.

You CAN fight by yourself, cuz there's keybinds for attacking and abilities, but you choose to use auto combat.. then complain about it for the second half of the video...? I highly respect your videos and your opinions but i can't wrap my head around this. You didn't even use the regular combat in the video, how are you sure you wouldn't have liked it?

- Visuals are good because the Art team are in complete charge of that and they know what they are doing. - The mobile features are bad and are still in the game because some Executive-that-have-never-played-a-videogame is forcing them to make autoplay content thinking that it brings more money. - Games suffer when men-in-suits are making the decisions.

Game actually looks good, and i like UI Style. Combat looks great too, what to expect from Blade & Soul game. Enchantment system probably came from Lineage 2, instead of BDO. As it used to be like that. From +4, there was a chance to destroy your item. End up with people running around with not enchanted gear instead. I actually loved this back in a day, and when i enhanced my weapon to +15, i was feared by most people. Anyway, there is few Cons for me: NCsoft Auto-Combat NCsoft Gonna be P2W, that's for sure NCsoft And ahm, NCsoft, just in case Now, we just need to wait for 10 years till they actually release it in the west. Albion online is a PC game, developed completely, then adapted for mobile, with basically the same UI for both. That makes it a much better adaptation than going from mobile to PC.

Personally I dont mind P2W as a business model, i mean, capitalism itself seems like a P2W system in general, but it does get depressing when every single games chooses P2W as its main business model, and as long as it keeps on producing the goods (= revenue), the trend is unlikely to stop. Hence, the reason why I cant get away from my attachment to FM series :) Anyhow, nice review on the game!

To answer your question at the end of the video. The game is pure auto play and complete pay 2 win from start to finish. Also the combat is super boring with only 9 skills with cooldowns and thats it. I've checked some koreans streaming this game and after a month of playing they pretty much just leave their characters afk faming monster forever ( and are only now getting to lv 50 out of 60 levels)

As soon as I encounter autoplay in a game I uninstall. Whats the point. And why tf are the touch buttons on screen… Enemies respawning after 3 seconds tells you everything you need to know about this game. Its designed to be a soulless korean grind fest like BDO. Pretty sure that micro transactions will be a big part of that grind fest. Games like these just make me loose hope of the gaming industry.

This game was amazing, it was concerning how many bots were on the pvp, but I farmed them to get to diamond. But seeing the bots slowly go away was not a good sign because it showed that they didn’t bother botting the game anymore

Tried SO many MMOs again lately. Went back through most of them. Just boring. No challenge. No risk. What's death even mean? Yawn fests. Graphical vomit with no substance. I'm playing P99 EQ now and I have to say, if you can get past the old look, sligthly wonky strafe, and learn to love first person, it's by far still the best. The challenge, the unique OP individual skillset each class brings. It's amazing. Absolutely love the game.

Graphics looks good but rest is 🗑️. Autoplay Upgrade fails you lose weapon {not the system where weapon evolves with you like in first game} F...ing armor. It'll allow them to sell outfits with stats. I already see this game being another P2W trainwreck Genshin impact is still better game than this...

If it is like part 1 weapon system, and empty areas after you leave, I am not playing. This is also autoplay. Really! Punishing Raven as a mobile game with no autoplay and so much fun. Yet this MMO is going that direction, no sorry. Looks great, has nice cut scenes, the animation looks good. They will make money from the mobile market.
