The fact that it's 50$, flips well, good tolerances, AND it's steel so you can beat the shit out of it is insane. Back in the day 50$ got you a pos bear and sons 114. This is by far the best bang for your buck on a beginner inexpensive bali

Not to mention “live blade” or trainer options and if you want a live they have a way to avoid it being taken by customs incase you can’t have live blades in ur country using the wrench thingy and while it isn’t a live blade (false edge) you can still have a modder put an edge on it for 10-20 dollars which ain’t bad

You and will hearsh got me into the hobby! If anyone’s reading this and debating to get this or the vulp, I would say pick which one you want. In the end it won’t really matter it’s all preference.
@bali-bogan11 ай бұрын
I actually disagree. I’d heavily recommend the canyon over the vulp. The canyon is more neutral, and learning on a more neutral balisong will help your flipping be so much better. Also when you get into the 200-300+ dollar range most balisongs are neutral.

Im a relatively new flipper. Can someone explain to me what a “false live blade” is compared to a live blade? I would assume it’s a dull blade But I’m not entirely sure. And is it more recommended to just get a trainer over a false live blade? I already have a vulp and squiddy but I’d like to buy the canyon at some point as well.
@ToastFlips11 ай бұрын
It just looks sharp but cant cut you. I would stay away from practicing ariels with it if you are newer because tip is still similar to a live blade
@spyroclone15211 ай бұрын
A "False Live Blade" is simply an unsharpenned blade that is able to be sharpened, unlike a standard trainer blade that is hollowed out. It's essentially a way for manufacturers, specifically Nabalis, to emulate the look, feel, and balance of a live blade without the inherent dangers of cutting yourself. Be warned, the tip is still sharp, so you can still be stabbed if you're not careful. In terms of balance, a false live blade typically adds more weight and adjusts the balance of the trainer depending on the distribution. In the Canyon's case, the false live blade increases the weight to 4.46oz with a more neutral distribution. Whereas the trainer version is significantly more handle biased, but lighter at 4.33oz. If you're looking at this objectively, a false live blade balisong could be an incredibly cheap alternative to purchasing a live blade balisong if you know how to sharpen it. So you could in theory have the Canyon be a beater EDC. However, the downside of a false live blade is the fact that since it looks so real, it'll definitely get you in trouble if you're caught with it. Balisongs are pretty illegal in most countries and certain states. So it's best not to travel or be seen with the faux live blade in public. It's essentially a trainer that you can not take anywhere lol.
@Mackbgoinham11 ай бұрын
@@ToastFlips that makes a lot of sense, Thank you for the insight! Also sounds like something worth buying because i love the look of a blade but I’m not comfortable enough to flip live blades yet lol. I’ll keep the Ariel thing in mind too!

@@spyroclone152 Thank you so much for the response! Especially since I’m sure there was some fair amounts of time put into it. I don’t know too much about the actual feel difference of neutral, handle biased, and blade biased, but i do think that it sounds that it’s neutral. Ill probably due research for what the balisongs i already have are in terms of bias so i can have a feel and knowledge of whats what. And i think it’s a really nice touch that you can simply sharpen it and it’d be an actual blade. I don’t do much public flipping as of right now anyway, and i recently ordered an edit lite so if i do flip publicly ever id probably use that. Thank you so much again for all of the insight though!
@spyroclone15211 ай бұрын
@@Mackbgoinham My pleasure. Just be warned that this balisong is overall pretty heavy due to the fact that it's made of 420 Stainless Steel. It's comparable to the weight of the Squid Trainer V4, so your wrist will need the occasional break once in a while. It'll also feel sluggish at first, but for $40-$50, this value is straight up highway robbery.
@thedeviouscharles10 ай бұрын
yes, i agree that the lightning is really good. you could make a good comparison of a mako and a lightning and i would say a mako v3 will lose to the lightning. both are slippery and on washers but i think that the lightning beats the mako v3 with the jimping and grip

I personally gotta say a hard no. I have been flipping both for a couple of days. The Canyon is definitely heavier, but the momentum it carries flips circles around the vulp. This thing chaplins great, unlike the vulp. The grip is incredibly more sufficient thanks to the skeletonized handle construction with concave speed channel cutouts. Plus, the balisong comes standard with the extra hardware and goated Nabalis T10 pin needle bit inside the box, so you are not really missing too much outside the standard vulp.

Not everyone only likes blade bias balis. Most of the best flippers want a slight handle bias for momentum. Its a very small handle bias though. Most things like this will feel weird if your preference is blade bias.
