There are Car Trends We Want to Die, but also Car Trends We Want to Live :(
Here are 5 Car Trends That We Miss and deserve an encore into the 21st century!
Crazy Color Options from Factory: Whether it was interior or paint, the people of the past definitely knew how to roll in style. Pop Up Headlights
We always talk about how great the 80s and 90s were because of these. BRING. THESE. BACK. There are some trends in fashion and Music that come and go, but then COME BACK AROUND AGAIN. I definitely think Pop-up headlights have earned a right to at least get an encore into the 21st Century. Lighter Weight: All that technology, insulation, and expensive leather packs on pounds. Cars nowadays like to brag about being under 3,000lbs like it’s an accomplishment, when only 20 years ago, that was considered standard weight…Manual Handbrake: Regular Car Reviews was right. Something about tugging up a manual handbrake really does satisfy the monke brain within us. Watch the rest of the video to find out the other entries. Seriously, no one reads this far down into the description.

It's a bad idea that I hope will die out in less than a decade. It's easy to find and memorize all the knobs and buttons. Yeah, all the manufacturers now are like “Our 65” 8K OLED touch screen, vents that you can’t just reach out 4 inches and adjust, and hundreds of menus that you have to dig through are so great cause it’s cLeAn and SiMpLe or whatever”, bullsh*t. I drive a manual 2012 Elantra hatch and it’s so much more “elegant” to just have knobs and buttons, a quality manual hand break, nice looking analog gauges, and a good ol’ twist to start key. @@FAB1150 about 50% of the motor vehicles I've driven, barring those with air brakes, or electronic park brakes, had park brakes that were either improperly adjusted, or were inadequate to hold the vehicle, particularly on an upgrade, in the case of vehicles with drum brakes. ever wondered why driver training conditions you to park with your wheels turned into the curb and your transmission in the lowest gear available? it's because you shouldn't trust your park brake to keep the car from moving.

@@kenbrown2808 huh, that literally never happened to me. I guess we just take care of the cars. That's done because of redundancy. you shouldn't trust _any_ security system to work by itself. Oh, and you shouldn't pull the handbrake with all your force to stop the car, that's just gonna stretch the cable and then it does start being weaker. But they tell us that in driving school. Pull it just until you feel some resistance, that's enough. It will hold the car and last decades.

If you mean new, it's actually a HUGE MISCONCEPTION (in the US): in 1996 a Geo Metro's base MSRP was $8,380: In 2021, that's $14,263.30, which is actually more than MSRP on a Chevy Spark ($13,600), and just under a Nissan Versa at $14,980. When mentioning the parking brake and ignition being manual, and for me at least, I prefer them manual because of the sound. When you yank the parking brake up, your hear an audible reminder that "my car is not going anywhere," or when you turn the key until the motor cranks, you feel physically connected to the motor. Without the feel and sound you become isolated from the car.

To be perfectly honest, I dispise the electric handbrake and start buttons because they never give me the same control over the car. Being a mechanic I cannot overstate how many times these e-brakes suddenly come on, when you try to manouver a car onto a lift. Also, when you poke the start button the wrong way, you can end up leaving the car in aux power on mode. Not only does that drain the battery pretty quickly, it also doesn't allow you to lock the car. So yes, push start should only be on electric vehicles, not cars with a starter...

Fun fact: Keys were introduced as a security measure to prevent the easy theft of early automobiles. Prior to them, cars had buttons or switches to start the engine. I remember a car when I was (considerably) younger in which the key ignition was combined with a starter switch. The key was inserted and turned two clicks to "on" and then the button was pressed. It was done to prevent key breakage in the ignition and I thought that was cool as hell. Still do.

Natural aspiration? Almost every car is naturally aspirated. I don't like plastic shit on the engine, either. Come on, car designers! Get real! I'm partial to roughly 50-series tires myself. Very high-profile means looser steering feel and a slight tendency to wander at highway speeds. Excessively low-profile tires give a very harsh ride and poor tolerance for real-world driving conditions such as potholes.
