Since at least half of all deaths on the road are related to such dumbasses AND elderly politicians (and the car insurance lobby) routinely push said fatality statistics to oppose raising HIGHWAY speed limits to reasonable rates of speed the average herd has been driving for decades, the solution is as obvious as can possibly be…

People driving 15 under with hazards is annoying, but I honestly prefer it to the alternative - people going at their usual speed and crashing. I've witnessed 2 highway pileups in my life and both could've been only minor incidents if people simply slowed down and paid attention instead of flooring it when the car ahead is barely visible. Also, in my town I've seen people use hazard lights during bad traffic as"I can turn anywhere at any time" turn signal. Its super annoying, I've been cut off by them more times than I can count

Crashes in bad weather are usually the case of following distance, not absolute speed. In fact, even in good weather people don't have proper following distance. It's almost like most people suck at driving and never went on a track to actually learn the limits of braking and traction.
@ambiguousheadline8263 Жыл бұрын
@@HaloDude557 most of the time yeah, but whenever I see people going 50+mph on a highway when the fog is so dense that you can't see more than maybe 25ft ahead I just have to shake my head. There are numerous videos of that exact thing causing pileups. One second you are driving in what appears to be a totally clear road at a "safe" speed for handling the car and then the next second there are 20+ cars all crushed up and blocking the whole road in a huge accident that you have absolutely zero time to react to. That's not a case of following distance, that's a case of too much absolute speed
@HaloDude557 Жыл бұрын
@@ambiguousheadline8263 no? You need space to react and stop. That is why following distance is important. If you literally cannot see in front of you due to visibility, you should assume there is a car stopped there and create buffer space for potential emergency braking.
@ambiguousheadline8263 Жыл бұрын
@@HaloDude557 kinda hard to create space when the fog/dense rain/blizzard/etc is completely surrounding the entire area. You are correct that you assume there is a car, that is precisely why people going so fast in those conditions is stupid.
