I don’t take mine apart unless, something is wrong, to clean. I usually do what the paper work tells ya to do, run it under warm water etc then I’ll blow it out with compressed air and relube.

Rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer works as well to take adhesive residue off of blades.

91% iso. 50% is about as good as plain water which is to say terrible.

Make sure you get good quality hex/torx bits to avoid stripping screws. I don't recommend WD40 for knives - if you cannot afford knife oil, mineral oil will usually suffice. In my kit I also have: 1) A toothbrush to get stubborn dirt off without scratching - although not recommended on true mirror finishes. 2) Rubbing alcohol to really clean the visible parts of the blade & is good for removing fingerprints etc. if needed. 3) Degreaser - not for everyday cleaning but for gunked up pivots or bearings etc. Final step (mostly for carbon blades) is a very light oiling of the blade to prevent corrosion. Sharp blades all.

I use the Chapstick form of loctite. I like it so much better than the messy liquid.

I just use mineral oil from the dollar store 😎

i just did this on my 10+ year old griptillian the other day and because my dumbass put way too much loctite on every single screw back when i first got the thing, i stripped almost half of them luckily it was easy enough to find some fancy titanium replacement screws for like $10 and now my knife is just as smooth as the day i bought it. btw it was pretty nasty in there so i really have to do this more often

As a cleaner 91% ISO is best. Something I've used that is almost as good is called, Super Slick Stuff.

it aint got no WD-40 innit. lol
@linearswitchguy95932 ай бұрын
WD-40 isnt a lubricant, its a solvent and its mainly meant for displacing water

Great video! My newest addition to my knife maintenance kit is rubbing alcohol patches. They sell them in like 100 packs for $2 at my local store and it saves me so much time and effort.

I don’t use loctite unless the pivot has specific loosening issues. I would generally stay away from loctite, even blue. If you have to just a little bit, but again unless the pivot keeps loosening or the blade centering goes off easily stay away

Yours videos are getting worse and worse. (Nothing personally with George, hes funny guy) Where's knive banter? Where are Week one Wednesday streams? You're making a 9 min video on how to clean a knive? Come on Blade HQ, be serious.

You shouldn't have to take apart your whole knife for a simple cleaning .

You don’t have to, but disassembly is definitely the best way to maintenance a knife. If you don’t want to improve the action or don’t care, don’t take it apart…

Shabazz an OG 🤛🏼, but LTK over @LuvThemKnives also does a lot of knife disassembly content!
