The thing that always impresses me is your attention to detail. Whether its a paid job, or a free makeover, you always do the extra to make the lawn look like a PGA gplf course. Without the sand traps, water hazards or rough off the fairway, of course.

It is actually quite important to leave the grass as a kind of fertiliser. Not when it’s super long but it actually helps to get a proper green back again.

I was suprised as how well the grass came up - there were a couple of areas that had browned off due to the length, but that will bounce back quickly. I wonder how long the grass had been left without maintenance. If the real estate were suprised by the length it does not sound as if they had visited the site! Great work especially with the rain adding to the general dampness of the grass. Another great job Sean!

I know what it’s like , we went away for a fortnight mowed the lawns 2 days before we left with the rain and heat our lawns were nearly as long as these only I didn’t have a ride on to cut them , had to do each lawn in 3 goes and trimming the edges with a whipper snipper the long grass was wrapping around the machine and stalling it. What you did there Sean was absolutely amazing even if your gear is stronger than mine it was still bloody hard work well done digger , all the best from Tassie

Glad you had a small mower along. You got a workout in the back yard. People's comments are interesting on clippings. When there is a high expense, plus gas and time, to go to a dump/tip, then it can be a real need to be able to mulch clippings on site, while it isn't necessarily in the best interest of the lawn. Someone who isn't familiar with actual lawn care, can assume a (well groomed) yard can be done fairly quickly, and for a "reasonable" cost, which can be true if conditions are good and the person has worked-out efficiency. On an overgrown lawn like this, it is similar to a disaster and takes far more time to clean up to look decent and be able to progress from there. Sean wrote that it took him four hours to do this (and he bagged and hauled-off the large volume of clippings from here). Nice proof is here, with a video of the conditions and before and after results. Large yard, neatly done, looks good.

Yeah, for many of my regulars I am happy to mulch the lawn, as it's short enough to break down quickly, and like you said it is efficient.

I love it when you edge with the trimmer! Produces the kind of result I remember from my childhood, although not on our lawn since I was in charge of it and had neither the tools, the skill, or the mandate to do it. This was one of the nicer lawns you have had to do, good thick grass to stop the weeds, no brush to get in your way. Great result and you beat the rain. 🇨🇦💕
