Why do you effectively sacrifice a file for the bands?

Clogs up with wood. You can get a few knives done with one usually, but desert ironwood in horrible for clogging the file up!

Wouldn't a standard file card clean it out though? Or is it just too gummy to clean back out?

Probally for other woods but I can't see it with desert ironwood.

I really lime your method Might steal a little How long does it take for you to make a knife? So far , after a year, my record is 2 in a month Great knives And if you should "steal" , steal from the best Doc

Thanks! A knife like this can take up to a week. Sometimes doing other stuff in the meantime along with it.
