To eliminate the shine of coated storebought hardware, soak them in vinegar for a day, then forge them to a black heat to achieve a smithed look.

Original bowie knives were small. They got super-sized over time. Look at Black's early works. Small is just more useful, but by the Civil War huge cutlass clip points lol

Looks nice. But a real fighting ax is much thinner in the blade. a wood ax weighs 3.5 pounds, much too slow to swing with one hand. In fact i doubt if a two handed beard ax weighed that much

White vinegar will thin the excess epoxy it helps with clean up
