This is how i Forged my "5160" leaf spring Serbian cleaver inspired by Almazan kitchen here on KZbin.
I honestly never would have made myself one if not for the customer who wanted one...I tried it out and i was hooked it is incredibly handy and versatile... think bush craft cleaver!!!
CHECK OUT ALMAZAN KITCHEN!!!

Great job forging that blade ! Lots of videos say “ forged” but end up being stock removal! Great tip about the forge scale. I’m in the process of making one myself, will use some of your tips!

You are quite talented ! I admire quality workmanship , regardless of subject . I am a big Fan of this type knife . If I can ever find one that's for sale , that I can examine before I buy it , I will ( examine & buy it .. if the knife is the real thing ) !

If you ever buy one of the internet do your research on it first. Make sure u search what type of steel it is made out of. Then check charts on edge retention for that steel

super handy. im gonna weld a upright post on it still for a better striking surface

@@CGSmithing I need to invest in a welder, you could even upset one end of some like one inch square stock to provide a lager surface to weld and strike, but maybe im just over complicating it lol. None the less itll be a super cheap and easy alterative to forging a flater or buying one

Haters gunna hate. I didn’t see any problem. Most smiths thin it out and forge to rough shape. Then do the rest on the grinder, that is still hand forged. I’ve always removed the forged look and made them smooth. Usually pitch them in acid to darken them. But that’s just my way. Wish I could post a picture of my version of this cleaver.

What type of grind are you doing? I’m going to be making one for a friend. I’ll be doing 80crv2 core with Damascus jacket. For the kids of me I can’t find good info on what grind to use.
@CGSmithing
@CGSmithing 2 жыл бұрын
I did a full flat grind on it, then when it had a almost sharp edge i put a secondary edge bevel on it, but with a convex grind.

SERBIAN knife..??? here in europe we dont know this term, it does not exist! it is nonsense and comes probably from a false translation, because chinese dont want to spend money for good translation of descriptions - you should not put your work on that level!
