They don't really understand each other, they don't really support each other. Yes, they alway hug and stay hand in hand, but those are just external signs. Think about how Kurt chose to try being popular over standing with Mercedes when they were in the Cheerios, or how Mercedes didn't respect Kurt being atheist and forced him on church. Not to mention that Kurt basically thrown Mercedes away for Rachel. I mean, I'm not saying they are not friends or that they don't care about each other, but they are far from being a perfect example of friendship.

But I think it's safe to assume that Blaine never really liked Sam-Sam was just a way for Blaine to project his feelings on to someone who wasn't kurt.

no one will ever understand how much their relationship is my comfort. blaine has a lot of problems that we can talk about for hours but I love how comfortable he is with sam. they were always taking care of each other, always understanding each other and never judging each otherr like Ever!!! even when sam didnt agree with the marriage proposal he was there to help blaine choose the ring. even the crush plot was healthy???? glee has many friendships and you can like whichever you want !!!! but there is something about them that exudes comfort for me :(

Okay, TOTALLY AGREE. But, going back to “Blaine having a bunch of problems”, I think that just all comes from him having a bad home life. I just wish the writers had made a storyline about Blaine and his parents so him being so insecure would make more sense. I love Blaine sm, but I think he could have had some great character development if the show had done that. And maybe there could have been something about Sam helping him through those problems.
