Pair a memcard pro 2 with freemcboot in slot 1, an mx4sio and a 8bitdo wireless controller adapter and you have one hell of a great system for playing those old games.

Know what's funny? I'd be one that would need it too. I tried a number of the various resolutions and frame rates. Each time, I got a black screen. It might very well have to do with the way I have things set up, though. In the video, I used component cables out to a RetroTINK 5X Pro. Then out of the TINK into a Morph 4K. Then out of the M4K into an Elgato 4K60 for recording.

I still have my original memory card and WWF Attitude game disc to load my PS2 McBoot, 128 GB Internal HDD too, isn't FF XI still alive? I'd love to see a hack to make it playable again on PS2. HDLoader was the way to play back then, it made loading times go away significantly.

I think that's one of the great reasons to go the FMCB route. Those optical drives don't last forever, and it's great to be able to shift content to USB and HDD for long life gaming enjoyment and take some of the burden off the optical drive.

So does this require any kind of soldering (that the word? Opening up the ps2 and putting a chip into it) before this card can work? I've seen some vids before along the lines of easy hack but after clicking on the video find out I need to install a chip first and then it's easy.I didn't see any mention of that so is it a given that this works without me needing to do something like that or is it just a given that you have done that step before even entertaining this idea in the video?

I've been thinking of buying a Magic Gate to put FMcB on it, but I just don't know where I can trust getting an authentic one. Is this as reliable as an original Magic Gate? Also, I have a PS2 slim so I cant use a hard drive, but I hear the next best method to load backups is through the ethernet port. If you can make a guide for that, I would be very grateful. Thanks.

Memcard pro is better. It can have gree mcboot but also unlimited sd storage for saves. And the OPL team eill support loading games from memcard pro 2 in futuee as well. Truly sll in one solution

Yes you can. It's as simple as just taking out the memory card. Since Free McBoot lives on the memory card. If you don't have that memory card inserted, the system boots completely stock back to the version present on the Motherboard of the console.

Well, not out of the box, at least. You'd also need something like a USB drive formatted in FAT32 format or an internal HDD to store the games. The backups can be as large as around 4.7GB so make sure you have plenty of room.

I haven't used my ps2 since ps3 came out , just found it again at my parents house but as far as I know it completely bypasses the region lock or at least this was the case with the first version where you could use USB for fmcb install on the memory card.
