Blair and Cameron- the problem with former leaders

Blair, Cameron, Sturgeon and Farage should all be in the house of Lords- (along, dare I say it, with Liz Truss) if they offer the current leadership advice, and they should, it must be private and off record. Blair's public comments are abhorrent but typical of his media-hogging perversity. And Cameron needs to recognise that, for the second time, he has quit the stage when things got too hot to handle. It's not Nice that he needs but a firm dressing down.

0:09. Blair and Cameron were, 'fairly good' Prime Ministers? Really? This would be Tony Blair who lied about WMD's and took us to war and Cameron who instigated a vicious policy of austerity on Britain. But I suppose it depends on one's definition of 'good'. Have to say though, the Blair and Cameron impressions at 3:20 were funny and spot on. Wilson's right - the two of them are pathetic.

Both Quislings are in the inner circle of the privy council. It is rumoured that back in the day young Blair importuned in a public privy, and Cameron's Piggy Gate makes one wonder if Boris was said Peppa Pig?

I went to visit my mother in hospital here in Bham many years back. As the foggy winter mist lifted I saw all these young soldiers sitting in wheel chairs with missing legs and limbs. Like some world war horror.....kept of the news. Hard for me to ever ..ever forget Blair and the travesty of Iraq.......Thanks for posts.

Blair wanted to be the first Democrat President of the UK and Cameron is just a political egotist. Both are a major reason that we are in the state we are now.

Tony Blair, the muilti-multi-millionaire former public schoolboy who keeps his vast wealth well away from HMRC, has never been able to stop meddling in UK politics since he left in 2007. Starmer's appointment of Jacqui Smith, Liz Kendall and Alan Milburn reeks of Blair's continuing baleful influence on the current Labour Party and government.

All these problems started when we moved away from having senior politicians who've been to a top public school followed PPE Oxford rather than a top public school followed by a commission in the Guards, preferably the Coldstream or Grenadiers. The Guards is not an environment to develop radical thinking or political theory!

The PM in my lifetime I most respect is Harold Wilson, LBJ literally begged Wilson to have us fight in Vietnam, but Wilson was solid, he saved my life as a teenager, and did not get my generation involved, no matter who begged us in Washington, we let America bury itself in the hole it dug for itself in Vietnam, I can only pray Kier Starmer is tough enough to Allow America to bury itself again, this time in Ukraine. Only time will tell, but this will be his great test.

Blair has long-term ideas and is a long-term planner. Which is a trait I don't think is in abundance. But his legacy is terrible. Blair should have called a referendum before embroiling the UK into the tenticles of the EU. He should have checked that the public was 100% on board. Before he ran off with his ideas. Now he thinks he's a fabien back seat driver. Cameron was a good democrat. He wanted to continue in the EU and campaigned to stay. So he stood down. Which is perfectly acceptable to me. If more MP's who did not support brexit stepped away, we would have been in a better position now.

I completely agree. I think once your tenure as PM is over, you should be nowhere near Downing street in any capacity. You had your chance and time its time to go away just as in any other job in the goverment. A police SGT doesn't go back to the desk when he/she retires, they go away and stay away as they should. I actually believe in a one chance policy too and id actually support it being a law. What I mean by this is once you become PM if you run for second election and loose that should be it for good, I don't think you should be able to run again in 5-10 years time and reappearing like a bad smell, the people have spoken go away, or enjoy your time in the house of lords.
