I lost both of my grandparents to covid. They passed away within two hours of each other on the same day. They were brilliant, true and honest people who loved life. We unfortunately hardly got to see my grandad who passed away with Alzheimers in a care home on his own. We didn’t know that my grandma passed away until she wasn’t picking up her phone until she was discovered by my dad who found her deceased on her own at home. We absolutely respected the rules of isolation during the lockdown period and can’t believe what this ruling government has done. We are devastated that we couldn’t visit them. I think that the news that my grandma couldn’t see her husband or her family and friends ultimately broke her heart. We still mourn and regret the actions we should have taken, now seeing what our leaders have done. My grandparents both died alone but we inseparable in life. I know that they’re together in a far better place than this.

When the election results were announced I felt numb instead of happy, which puzzled me until I heard someone on the radio describing it like being released from an abusive relationship. He's certainly hit the ground running, unlike Truss who just hit the ground, and I'm now optimistic that he really can fix things.

Heard a guy on the radio the other day trying to defend the government parties and gatherings by saying that they worked very hard so deserved a break, then started saying "well boris had already had covid and had been very ill", before he could finish he was cut of by the interviewer saying " that is not a mitigating circumstance" I was sat in the car dumb founded i got the impression that he believed that because boris's job is so much more important and he had already had covid that the restrictions didn't apply to him. That was not the case for anyone else in the country, we all had to isolate the full two weeks whether we had been vaccinated, had previously caught covid or not, people lost jobs because they were having to isolate several times in a row as different member of their household tested positive in turn. If a partner or sibling tested positive you and they would have to isolate, then if by the time they were ready to end isolation you test positive the isolation clock would start again for both of you.

He nailed it. My dad died of Covid, confused, frightened and alone. His brain damage from mini strokes made it terrible, for an otherwise strong man. He died hard, as we, his children, looked on through a video screen, trying to comfort him down a phone, held by an exhausted medic who was too tired to concentrate and hold the phone so he could properly hear us; wondering why his children were not there with him at his darkest moment. He’s gone and we followed the rules. And the guilt I feel is something I have never spoken of until this moment. Starma speaks for so many of us. Both parties could have done far more to reduce immigration when part of the EU, because it has many advantages. The Conservatives advocated for Brexit and immigration restriction, they never acted on it and in fact immigration is higher than ever, but at least they had the decency to lie and pretend they were in favor of popular positions. I am not a Conservative voter or supporter, and I will never be a Labour supporter, unless they return to a genuine working class party, instead of a party of champagne socialists advocating for mass migration and the rainbow agenda. Immigration benefits the elite, it does not benefit the working class and never has. The Bank of England did a study and found that immigration stagnated wages, and then we could look into the disproportionate amount of crime these groups commit (the immigrants from outside of Europe) I don't care to have an immigration debate, it doesn't matter, immigration is not popular among the people so Labour shouldn't be advocating it, even if they could demonstrate it benefiting the economy.

It particularly benefits the older working class who either own their own home or have a council house, and will need looking after in their old age, and use the NHS a lot. Oddly those are the ones most against it. It probably not beneficial for young working class without settled accommodation. Labour can't be the party you want it to be without proportional representation, as they aren't going to get into power like that because the traditional working class is a lot smaller than it used to be, and is still shrinking.

A transparent use of supposed admiration for a former Tory icon as a means of piquing the Tory conscience. Thatcher was, as we all know, prone to white-washing/denying illegal activities of her government to save face. She lied, used misinformation and her own ignorance to deny wrong doing of her own government. I don't think Starmer's speech is particularly good as it was full of conceit. But Johnson IS a bellend and should be replaced. Watched this live and it had a profound impact on me. I've been following this scandal with interest over the past few weeks but never really assessed how it impacted and affected me directly until I heard Keir's words yesterday. Last March my dad suffered an accident in the family home that left him in hospital for 3 months in an ICU before he sadly passed away in the June. My family and I were only allowed to see him for 1 hour, every other day and only one person per visit - so that meant I could only see him once every 10 days or so, and without the support of the rest of my family while my dad physically and mentally deteriorated over his 3 month stay. We really appreciated the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford for showing discretion to allow us to visit him as I understand that is more than what other families got. But after hearing Keir speak yesterday, and the weight of his words, it made me frustrated that I was restricted to seeing my dad only once every 10 days for 1 hour, with time slipping away for the both us, while rules and restrictions seemingly didn't apply at no.10. His speech really drew me in and made me saw how what's happened in Westminster over the past few weeks really does matter to everyone. I watched this scandal play out with an almost TV drama interest but now I feel really personally impacted and hurt by how this PM bats and fobs off this country, and laughs in the face of the suggestion he ought to take personal responsibility.

This happened some time ago, and I do remember Starmer photographed in labours HQ holding a can of beer. The same thing indeed. Photographed through a window, which he went on to denie. You know what happened after he sat down dont you? Boris cut Starmer down to size by raising the point that it was Starmer that failed to prosecute Saville. I think what it would be best to conclude is that neither are suitable for leading the country. One of them is utterly self centered and had been all his life and the other is such an establishment stooge that he allowed a serial pedo that had been allowed to operate for years and had many friends in high places, including Buckingham Palace, to escape justice.
