Join us on the third day of our cruise! We woke up bright and early to run the Castaway Cay 5K only to find out that not only was the race cancelled, but we were not going to dock at Castaway Cay at all due to dangerous thunderstorms!
After dealing with our disappointment, we had a great day on the ship and ended the night with dinner at Animator's Palate and Pirate Night!

That is my kind of 5k! 😂 I love all the comments in this video, I laughed so much! For example, "we had to", "it was the closest I ever came to running a 5k, so it was pretty scary for me". I love that you both choose joy to bring into your day! Also, if I could have two clips from this video on repeat it would be (1) the beautiful blue ocean and (2) the ride in the elevator looking into the atrium (great music choice).

This happened to my sister and me, the day we were supposed to go to castaway there was a huge storm so we couldn't even get near the island and they changed it to the next day so we got to see castway the next day but there was a terrible weather and couldn't go parasailing, I was still very grateful we got to visit castaway! Days at sea are great! Plenty of reasons to go back on a disney cruise. The problem we had with the change of plans was with Palo, we had a reservation for Palo the day we were supposed to have the day at sea and because of all the changes we ended up not getting of the ship in Nassau and instead going to Palo for brunch... That wasn't so bad since we never planned on getting off at Nassau but we were the only ones at Palo because everyone else cancelled that day.

We did the same 5-night cruise back in 2012 and also had rain our Castaway Cay day. The ship was delayed getting in because of the bad weather but the captain was AMAZING and did everything he could to get us there safely later in the day. Disney is so good at making sure you have the perfect vacation despite all the unexpected things that can occur!

My family did our first cruise last year (Chile, Argentina and Uruguay) and one day the weather was so bad we couldn’t dock at one of the ports and we ended up having to spend 3 days at sea, which wasn’t ideal but just spending time to appreciate/ experience everything the boat offered actually was really fun. There is always a silver lining :)

I love seeing all the things that the two of you did that were SO much different than what we did! It makes me even more excited for our next cruise because there's a lot we didn't have a chance to experience. I kept telling my family that it was just like when people say, "Oh I spent an entire day at MK and we did everything." There's just no way to see it all in a day or in this case in a single cruise!

I have definitely been enjoying your VLOG! We have been on several cruises and different situations have occurred that have delayed our travel or caused us to miss ports. Medical emergency's on board to hurricanes making us miss our ports of call on a Transatlantic cruise. It is disappointing especially when you have planned ahead what you plan to do and then find out you are not able but you just got to keep in mind and this is our moto: "WE make our cruise, not the happenings, not the crew or the other cruisers! Just us!" Keep up the good work! Looking forward to seeing more!

Yes I missed Grand Cayman because of weather. THey couldn't tender due to high waves, rain and thunder. It was a bummer. And we couldn't come back the next day. We just had an extra sea day

Absolutely loving these videos!!!! My family and I took a Disney cruise to Norway last summer and one of the ports of call was cancelled due to unsafe weather and it turned out to be one of my favorite days of the cruise! We got to sail through the adjacent fjords and they were absolutely breathtaking. We even got some sightseeing in as we saw the Seven Sisters Waterfall and the 'troll faces' in the mountains. I also met a cast member that day and ended up befriending him! I danced for 15 years and told him that one of my teachers was a dancer on the ship so he actually gave me the opportunity to meet some of the dancers in the shows on the ship. Just goes to show how far Disney will go to make your experience as magical as possible!!! And funny enough in 2010 my family and I took a Disney cruise through the Mediterranean and we were supposed to stop in Tunis, Tunisia, Africa, but there was a civil war (I think... lol I could be very wrong but it was definitely unsafe for passengers) so we went to Sicily instead and it was amazing!!!!! Disney really cares about passenger safety and that's one of the things that keeps us going back again and again! So happy you enjoyed pirate night as well - definitely one of my favorite cruise traditions!! (:

We missed Castaway Cay too on our first cruise because we had to turn around to reroute due to Hurricane Matthew. We ended up with a bonus day, but I was so sad to miss Castaway! We ended up taking your same cruise in May of 2017 and were able to see it. I hope made it the next day!

my family was supposed to fly out of Boston to St.Thomas a few years ago, the airport got shutdown due to a blizzard so we took a train to NYC and were supposed to fly out from there, that ended up getting cancelled as well. In the end we got an extra vacation in the city for 5 days and we did eventually make it to the island!

Me and my husband went to Bermuda on Royal Caribbean. We had a snorkeling excursion planned on a catamaran. It was cancelled because it was way too windy and we had to leave early to beat a storm. The ONLY downside to cruises is the weather 😩

Great video! Sorry about Castaway Key. I had an experience like that a few weeks ago. I got news from work while on vacay that I needed to be on a conference call whilst I was scheduled to be at the Vanderbilt mansion, Biltmore. So I paid my $70, found a quiet spot in the garden to be on my call and received work that I was being promoted. However, with the promotion came an immediate random drug test. I was 1,000 miles from home, hadn't yet seen the mansion, and had to go find a clinic. I ran through the mansion and was in a clinic and out by 2:30pm. Drove to the ocean and booked a beachfront hotel to celebrate.

It is upsetting, we were on a ship with Carnival , and the weather turned bad and we had to miss the port of Turks and Caicos, I was so super disappointed, that I was mad the entire day as we headed to Nassau instead and I ha d already been there three times. , still on my bucket list to get there.

I just love these vlogs! I'm so sorry about not being able to go to Castaway Cay, but you are right it only means that another Disney Cruise is in the future! I agree with you about listening to the sounds of the ocean while you are on a cruise. It's definitely so magical (odd for me because the ocean scares me lol) Our very first cruise we went on we had a balcony. I sat there for a good hour just reading my book during our day at sea. And yes, coming back to your room at night is just as magical. Especially the chocolate! :-)

I had a cruise a few years back with the same itinerary as this one. But we ended up getting a second Castaway Cay day because the Aqua Duck was down. And then a couple hours after docking they got the Aqua Duck back up and there was no line because everyone was off the ship. It was a pretty cool change in plans.

I took my daughter on a cruise in December 2015 and the day we were to go on RCL private island it was too windy to go on the tinder boats, but that turned out to be the best day. It was close to Christmas fo they did a lot of Christmas activities we had brunch in the dining room, watched movies and hung out by the pool. So, being flexible can turn out making the best memories.

That looks like so much fun! I can't wait to take my kids on a Disney Cruise some day. We're headed to DW in October for the first time. We did a Carnival cruise to Mexico a year ago. There was a minor engine issue on the ship and it changed our travel speed. For some reason that caused them to reverse the two port stops. It wasn't a big deal except that we had an excursion booked and needed to contact the company to let them know we'd be doing it on a different day. We had to pay for the expensive internet to be able to be in contact with them about it.

Our very first cruise was on Disney and we had Castaway Cay cancelled due to weather. My children were so disappointed as were we but vacation is still vacation! We became seasoned cruisers after that and had no problems until 2 years ago our Caribbean cruise was rerouted to Canada in October 2 days before departure. We had to repack our entire suitcase!!!

Love watching these, brings me back to all the great Disney Cruises I’ve been on! I can relate to changing the itinerary, last year we were on a 7-night cruise but Hurricane Irma decided to come right for us. We left Port Canaveral and they inverted the itinerary in hopes that we could steer clear but 3 days in they announced they had to cut our entire cruise short and heard back to Florida ☹️ luckily they did refund us, but it was a bummer to miss out on a trip we’d been looking forward to for so long!

On our last cruise, we were scheduled to go to Cozumel but the captain made the decision to divert due to a tropical storm. It was super disappointing at first but we ended up having a great extra day at sea. We actually know someone who was sailing on a different cruise line around the same time we were sailing who went at Cozumel despite the weather and she said it was miserable because of the rain and scary because of the winds so I definitely think we had a better day watching 3D movies and going to cooking demos than she did braving Mexico in the storm.

So as I mentioned before on cruise vlog 1, we had that lovely rain storm Sunday/Monday of our Disney trip. We ended up doing some resort hopping and riding the monorail to stay dry. We had to skip 4 fast passes due to the bad rain, but we had fun.

Was going to Indiana for 4th of july and was at the airport for 12hrs just for our flight to be cancelled ..we loaded and unloaded the plane 3 times in thunderstorms that day ..very long day

My hubby and I went on our first cruise a year ago for our anniversary. The original itinerary was Bahamas, Jamaica and Grand Cayman. Well two nights into the cruise we were told they had to cancel ports at Jamaica and Grand Cayman because someone incur a life threatening heart problem and needed to head back to embarkation port which was Miami. We dropped the person off but instead of heading to the Caribbean we spent extra days at sea😢

We couldn't go to the ship's private island ( I was on Royal Caribbean) because it was too windy and the waves were crazy. They really were crazy, at some points we had to grab onto the walls and stuff. But we found some fun stuff to do!

I was in Cancun and got a text that my flight from Miami to London in 2 days had been cancelled due to Hurricane Matthew.. I was flying British Airways and American so thought oh it will be easy to get from Miami to London can go via pretty much any US city, or Madrid, Paris, Amsterdam, Rome etc and then I got a text to say my flight from Cancun to Miami had been cancelled. Knew I was in safe hands with BA and AA and got a phone call. Was told I could stay in Cancun 3days extra at no charge and get the non stop flight to London. Need3d to head back to work so was booked to Philadelphia and then standing by to London, a lot of people would probably misconnect so we would get on the London flight but plan B was to overnight in Philly and fly to NYC the following day and then back to London, Got to Cancun Airport rebooking line was miles long, checked in, went to the gate, board3d the flight and in the air which was very bumpy as Hurricane Matthew had whipped the air into a frenzy cabin crew said we had been confirmed to London and someone would meet plane with new boarding cards... got home 15 mins before we were originally due.
