Watching Snell the past few years here in San Diego, he’s truly a smart, funny guy away from the mound. During games he did not pitch, our Padre announcers would always interview Snell during a game from the dugout. He has some of the funniest, wittiest comments from a MLB player. I know that’s not why a team pays him millions of dollars, but someday he could have his own syndicated radio show.

@@kingrama2727yeah tell that to Freddie freeman. He wanted to stay on the Braves and would’ve even took a pay cut to stay but his manager didn’t want him to do that so off to LA he went. Players might tell their agent which team they are interested in but at the end of the day, it’s the team that pays the most money. Which also greatly affects the pockets of the agents. Snell isn’t the only one. All of boras players are struggling. When that happens, then yes it’s the agent at fault.

My Mets are going to go through this Scott Boras nonsense with Pete Alonso the upcoming off season if we don't trade him at the deadline this season. As a Giants fan, I hated the signing from the beginning. He's exactly what he's always been, an unreliable starter who's injured often and when he does pitch, has elite level stuff with no control whatsoever. He'll pitch to a ton of strikeouts, and a ton of walks. He's going to give you 3-5 innings per start, depending how well he can work around the walks on a given night.

Lifelong Rays fan- loved snell but his issues before and after his CY year here was always walks and having them compound in one bad inning. Typically the fourth or fifth, was absolutely maddening. Still, he was back to his old self in game 6 of the WS and Kevin Cash decided to pull him after a weak hit, his only hit given up. When he’s on, and it’s typically when his command of his curve is there, dudes unstoppable. We lost that trade too. Absolutely horrible return.

As a Reds' fan, we saw this in reality with a ridiculous long-term contract for Homer Bailey years ago. His durability was always an issue and this type of market correction for pitchers seemed inevitable. This reminds me of how the market for RBs has shifted in the NFL. I think we will see an eventual shift to shorter contracts that will use performance incentives to drive the total values higher for the more durable guys. This may help to change focus away from the obsession with maximum velo above all else. In sports, regardless the type, the best ability is AVAILABILITY. Nice video, keep up the good work. Hope you had fun at GABP.

Could you make a video on how much injuries have screwed the Astros? Astros now have THREE pitchers out with Tommy john, a fourth with a different elbow surgery. Luis Garcia should come back this year. And knowing Mccullers, he'll probably be back a couple weeks then out again until 2026. Entire year and it appears the rest of the year will rely on a very depleted farm. Injuries in general has made this season very hard to watch. Had a scare with Tucker last night too. McCorrmick also missed a few weeks. Would love your take on this situation. The two true MLB pitchers available, Framber Valdez and Justin Verlander have been struggling as well. If either of them get a serious injury there will be no hope.

Over 8+ seasons he's averaged about a 2.5 WAR per season. Adjusted for a 162 game season it's about 3.5 WAR. Quantity matters. He misses lots of games and doesn't go long in the games he does pitch in. I'd be happy to have him on a playoff roster but he'll stress your bullpen in the regular season.

As a whole I think the MLB is going to avoiding paying big $$ to pitchers, especially aging pitchers and not ones extended young. Bauer was changing the mold of FA pitchers by taking higher AAV 1 year deals before getting blacklisted by the league. Also MLB teams have already seen Tim Lincecum (funny how snell is a lefty version of Timmy being a chase guy with more walks now playing for the Giants)

@@SuperRainbol I can't say HOW MUCH he's affecting them but he is, that's what I said. Him proving owners right doesn't help the money flow toward free agent pitchers

@@iTalkStudios him proving owners right about HIM does not impact at all other pitchers that do not have the same problems as he has. This logic never worked in any sport, did teams stop doing huge trades or contracts in the NBA after the Nets big 3 didn't work?

@@SuperRainbolNBA is a bad comp - they have new rules that screw over Super Teams now. Just ask Golden State fans about that.

As a Giants fan. Yeah not to happy about paying a pitcher $1 million dollars a start and he hasn't done anything yet? Not good

But I said the same thing when the Giants gave Barry Zito the big 5 year contract after he lost 8 mph of velocity. Of all is forgiven when he pitched 7 2/3 shutout against the Cardinals in game 5 of NL championship with the Giants down 3-1

Both Monty and snell got overpaid. Funny how many people were crying about greedy owners.
