Great video, and perfect for a person I know who's looking to do the same job. I've had hub motors apart dozens of times, but the axle and windings are about the only thing I haven't done yet. Most of my motors are Bafangs, and the magnet structure has slots that you can put the puller arms into. But I do it sideways in a bench mounted swivel vice so not to worry about the magnets dropping back into place. Thanks again for the video!

Something done did chew on those axle threads like it was a no.2 pencil. The cable in the axle how that got nasty maybe axle spin cant tell. I always reckoned the sun gear is stationary on the axle, maybe machined as one piece. And the planet disc assembly is attached to the rotor with the stator fixed stationary on the axle. So the planets would drive the ring as they orbit the sun gear. Your video here sure does clarify the real deal showing rotor and sun driving the planets on a stationary disc. The wiring to me is dizzying but I got 3 power and 5 hall on my connector that connect to that 'Lo Mein' inside. Yes, beware of the power of magnets, they will go where they want to in a hurry and won't stop if fingers are in the way. Thank you, great video brother! E-bike nut in the lower-48.

The problem you had feeding the wire into the new axle. Next time take some 50 lb braided fishing line it's got the diameter of about 12 lb test strength and small diameter. Tie the braided line to the wires harness feed the fishing line through. Before you put the axle in. Then once it's in the braided line will help you pull the wire through. That's all I've done it and works good also you can take something basic like butter from your refrigerator put it around that harness it'll help it feed it through through with ease. Interesting pointing out that hole it's supposed to take Grease. That was frustrating how to take it apart again. Anyway great video

@TheHowtoDad Жыл бұрын
I would definitely not do that! the throttle sends a signal to the controller, then the controller sends the correct power to the motor. if you bypass the throttle and the controller your motor will probably spin up very fast, then never spin again

My dvom shows 57 v from the battery using pins in the wire, when I snap the throttle no drop in volts or break in connection from the dvom. Am I reading voltage from the module to the three wires? My throttle seems to be getting 4.5 volts but I get no voltage to the bigger three wires to the hub motor with throttle wide open. Great vid, excellent shots and explaingin all along. super helpful...suggestion: some silicone oil or synthetic grease applied to the cable and shaft before inserting it likely would have made the job a lot easier getting that wire in. using pliers like yoiu did could damage the wires and reduce the current carrying ability.
@Chris-bn1bn7 ай бұрын
What are you thinking dude? Leaving the winding even nicked, can reduce the flow of current! All windings have a varying amount of insulation. Yeah, it's thin, but it's there. You can't assume to suck current through one wire into the adjacent wire. One strand will screw up the whole magnetic field. I would considder rewinding it with a slightly thicker, well insolated(dark purple/red). This will most likely increase your lost torque, and then some. Ask someone with hands on experience.

@TheHowtoDad11 ай бұрын

feeding the cable in i actually striped a couple inch of the sleeve and the other wires turned much easier no tape no or fishing tools other then the needle nose as they protruded i watched many videos on the rewire and when i stared my rewire i done the opposite lol i cut the wire from the end of the axle as only 1 left and pulled the rest into the stater side as 1 at a time took no effort then removed sealant and then rest of sleeve and as i said striped a few ince that would be needed after to rewire and it just slid in like butter resealed and then rewired happy camper i should have made a vid myself make all these difficult looking ones null and void ill do it on next 1 i think

Lube the shaft as said, (LOL....not really...), and maybe pre insert say...12lb fishing line, and then nail knot it to the cable to help pull with the push. That's a motorcycle-handlebar-wiring trick.

I have a question for you buddy, where did you order your new axel replacement from and where is the serial number or order number on the axel ? My axel looks exactly like yours and need one myself just not sure where to get it and don't want to get tue wrong one can you help me out buddy?
@TheHowtoDad Жыл бұрын
you need to contact the manufacture of your motor. I would suggest buying a new motor and swapping out the internals.
@khanhknapp Жыл бұрын
@@TheHowtoDad Thank you for replying but the thing about buying a new motor is it's about 300-350.doolars and I only paid 800 for tue bike itself. What started as the axel spinning out of the dropouts is now possible dumping the bike in tue trash or maybe turning it into just a regular bike with no motor in the hub. Sucks because it was such a good bike for me never had any problems with it and is only about 6 months old and now I can't seem to fix it the rear wheel keeps spinning out and I either get a new axel or like you said a new motor which I actually don't have enough money for at the current time. Anyways thanks for the good advise I really appreciate your help , thank you and have a great rest of your day .

@@TheHowtoDad I contacted the manufacturer and they told me they don't sell the axel separate they only sell the core motor which is $299.I swear the axel you have is the exact same one as mine.
@TheHowtoDad Жыл бұрын
@@khanhknapp the axel cost me $100 and you can see how.much trouble it was to swap it out. for $200 more you can swap the internals, and be done with it.

Your video is awesome I use it as reference for me taking apart my hub motor to replace the axel just like you but I'm stuck and need some advise .The part I'm at is something you called a "Sur" clip not sure if that's the correct name but what's the name of the tool you used to take it off and how can I remove the "sur" clip if I don't have that tool?

Congratulations. Of course, when you tapped the new motor shaft with a metal hammer, I almost jumped out of my seat. LOL! The epoxy on the windings was a good fix.

can you please give me the link of that axle thing you ordered please 💞
@TheHowtoDad Жыл бұрын
unfortunately there is no link to the part...you need to contact the manufacture and ask them very nicely to send you one. Honestly, the easiest thing to do is buy a new motor and swap the internals.

where would i get new planetay gears for m rattan 500w rear hub motor
@GBPaddling Жыл бұрын
My nylon planetary hub gears are fouling the alloy casing @ 2.27mins, it's as if it needs a shim or a spacer to just stand them off a little? 1mm would probably do it, any ideas on this?
